    The number "285" refers to the width of the tire...The second number is a ratio of width to sidewall height.

    The tires you want are 295mm wide, 70% of that much (295*.07=207mm) in sidewall height with an 18inch rim.

    And yes.....285s are the generally accepted "largest" that you can fit with a 3 inch lift and even then- Some minor trimming of plastic in most cases. I've got a 2.4 inches of lift (or so) and I'm going to be getting my cab mounts boxed.
