As a body tech, the gaps look a little off. Then again even when getting OEM fenders and hoods I still have to bend them to have the gaps perfect anyways so it isn't uncommon. What bothers me is it seems slightly too long by a couple millimeters, where the fender blends in with the hood at the point it kind of sticks out and it looks too close to the grill.

However, I really like the design. If this was an option or they sold the hoods in factory paint I would be tempted to sell my hood and go slap one of these on even though it seems ricer like.

White, debadged, Mudflaps removed, ICON 2.5 in front, 2.0 in rear, all 4 corners have reservoirs, Spidertrax wheel spacers all around, BAMF bolt on sliders, Avid lightbar, oem transmission cooler converted to power steering cooler, aftermarket transmission cooler eliminating all oem transmission cooler stuff, remote mounted spin on transmission fluid filter TrueTrac rear differential, rear diff housing vented and filtered into left side bed box, URD MAF calibrator, Volant intake scoop into oem airbox, second filter removed, airbox internals smoothed, blended and polished throttle body, NST intake manifold spacer, Wet Okolee set covers, WeatherTech Digital Fit mats, inexpensive JVC single DIN, Scangage, AVS Stepshield door sill protectors, Doug Thorley Long Tube Headers, URD Y pipe with O2 sims.
Agree, but if a raw hood was purchased, it should be simple work to get the gaps dialed in.

Don't understand why it's bedlined. That would be a pain to strip down to paint match the rest of the truck for the next buyer. As for the design, meh, not my taste. Reminds me of those Tacomas with the fake scoops.:anonymous:

VIS racing makes carbon fiber hoods. They did/do for the 1st Gens. I inquired more into it from them a year or so ago and they said they did not have any in stock for the 2nd gens but if enough people wanted they could make a run. That was the end of it.

    http://www.visracing.com/newcatalog/Search-Results?keywords=carbon+fiber+hood

I was thinking something like the way this hood was done on a wrangler, but fitting tacoma styling..with the functioning air exit in the low pressure area and scoop bump.

    http://www.rubitrux.com/go4x4it/wp-c...white-hood.jpg

or a tacoma version of this style hood...

    http://shawnebell.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/526922_10151832336551515_1349634721_n.jpg

I would be interested in something as long as it utilized the factory mounting brackets and factory windshield sprayers/washers, and latching along with a good fit and finish. Haven't seen any for 2012's but the ones I have seen in CF required the racing style hood clips to hold closed.

Whenever I look at something new I look at "what if" situations. If the hood has functional vents, which I can't tell if it does or not, then I would be concerned with "what if I blew a radiator hose?" or something like that. If that were to happen, those vents would take all that coolant being sprayed under the hood and throw it right onto the windshield. I guess I am just being too damn picky. lmao. As for style, I agree that the bedlined look just doesn't look right. But that is my opinion. lol.

Reminds me of a shark. Wonder if the vents are true vents...if so, seems like the engine bay would be hard to keep clean.

I think the hood might not be attached when that pic was taken. I could've just been put up there to take a pic after it was unbolted. Just a thought

If you look close... Those aren't factory fenders either. Sure looks like you would need to buy fenders to match that hood. Hood is more narrow at cowl, than front. Factory hood is same width front to cowl.

The hood looks fine it's the fenders that are throwing it off. I would rock that hood in a second if it was color matched.
