And the help to build up the infrastructure is coming. No the grid is not ready for hundreds of millions of EV's at the moment. That's why it's being upgraded. California and Texas is a prime example of poor engineering.

So if I’m reading that right, the issue is having to ramp up supply during the peak hours? The deeper the belly and higher the head, the steeper the ramp up?

Not here to argue. I like your positive attitude but its naïve. Learn how many nuclear power plants, solar panels. batteries you would need to make up just the 13,000 MW of electricity needed to balance the grid in Ca. Then get back to me.

Or people aren't scheduling their charging times after 12am. The smart networks and cars will balance this soon. That chart just for EV's? Or like when people get home and turn on the AC full blast? Run their appliances? Solar panels will help this out, I can see why they are being pushed in California.

Yes the deficit is a problem. Ca, is shutting down the last Nuclear plant and it will get worse. Solar and wind can't provide the power and the light WILL go out. Batteries to store it would be massive and take time to store the power used every day.

As an example you can get 1-3 miles of charge an hour on electric car at home with a level 1 120V charger, a level 2 3-10 miles an hour. Do the math for you commute.

So the upgrades to the electric infrastructure to help this won't work?

Well this is the first items in the bipartisan bill agreed to...

    • Engaging and collaborating early with states, tribal nations, and stakeholders to accelerate transmission deployment.
    • Enhancing transmission planning to identify areas of greatest need such as high-priority national transmission needs and conducting longer-term national-scale transmission planning analysis.
    • Deploying more than $20 billion in federal financing tools, including through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s new $2.5 billion Transmission Facilitation Program, $3 billion expansion of the Smart Grid Investment Grant Program, and more than $10 billion in grants for states, Tribes, and utilities to enhance grid resilience and prevent power outages, and through existing tools, including the more than $3 billion Western Area Power Administration Transmission Infrastructure Program, and a number of loan guarantee programs through the Loan Programs Office.
    • Facilitating an efficient transmission permitting process by coordinating with federal agencies to streamline permitting, using public private partnerships, and designating corridors.
    • Performing transmission-related research and development to continue developing and reducing the costs of technologies that enable the transmission system to be used more efficiently.

new and upgraded high-capacity electric transmission lines

the buildout of long-distance, high voltage transmission facilities

Other bipartisan bills will be put forward to build on this bill.

I don't see money for the generation necessary to move power through the lines they are studying to build. LOL

Okay. Maybe in this current bill they're building up the grid to handle new generation sources? Don't want to build new generation facilities and use the old grid. Seems like the reverse of how to do it.

Not to insult anyone but there are misconceptions about what the real problem is.

The grid is not a storage device anymore then a road is a gas station. It is how the electrons are moved from place to place. To much power and the wires are like a fuse an will burn up, to little and it shuts off to protect things in general terms.

Up grading the lines is good however there are some physical laws that need to be understood to make sure the grid stays balanced. Look up OHMs law and an understanding of amperage and voltage is needed.

The problem is too little electron production for demand when called upon. Bigger better distribution means nothing without something to ditribute.

A politician wrote a paragraph about something which he has no knowledge. Sound familiar.

As was addressed. The grid and contents will be upgraded BEFORE more electrons are flowing. It's coming.
