I hope there’s more to these upgrades you’re talking about, because everything in the above is fluff. So much politi-speech. Engaging, collaborating, enhancing, planning, deploying, “financing tools”, facilitating, etc…

Well you asked for facts and gave them to you. You choose not to believe them. That's your error. It's not a conspiracy. The infrastructure is being upgraded to handle demand. Sorry you don't like how they are doing it the way you want.

This is just one bill. More bills are upcoming. It's not a one bill to fix everything.

Buy a generator. You will need it.

More, bigger hoses don't work unless you have the water to shove through them. It takes years to build dams, nuclear plants and other types of large power generation infrastructure. Cart before the horse mentality.

I am in this business. I understand it well, your belief is not my problem it will be yours.

If I were you I would take a class in how electricity works.

    I'm out.

Need to get over the antiquated notion that everyone needs to drive to work to be productive. Driving less of any sort of vehicle will help extend the grid.

This was my reasoning as well. One thing I may add tho(and part of the reason I did buy a commuter in 2019) is that it is true that it will take years to recoup, at least you will have another physical asset(even though cars depreciate). I have another car now to keep miles off the tacoma, emergencies, helping out friends etc. Having 2 cars is awesome if you can get through actually paying it off.

I'd rather the gas money saved go towards paying off a daily driver than a greedy politician/oil executive

Yep, I never picked up my Model 3 to save money, but it was because neither checked off all the boxes for me. After my wife got rid of her SUV a couple years ago, I knew we still needed a vehicle for our dogs and for road trips. So my plan from the beginning was to pick up the Tacoma and then pick up another car for commuting/spirited drives (and the Model 3 just happened to fit that bill).

We'll be taking the dogs out to Joshua Tree this weekend in the Tacoma, and then I'll be back in the Model 3 next week to the office.

They each have their pros/cons, but they supplement each other well and I'm fortunate to be able to have both.

Good balance. My goal is the same. an EV for daily and I'll use the Land Cruiser for the fun stuff.

Now he's talking conspiracy now? Jeez Louise dude. And that polito-paragraph are facts? Do you honestly believe the infrastructure will be upgraded in 7 years when certain people want to stop production of ICE vehicles? If you do that's your error. If you weren't being such a fanboy people might be more receptive but people don't want to be told how to run their lives. Yes, oil prices affect ALL our lives. I've read all this thread and very few people are debating that EVs aren't the future. The only thing in debate is the timing and HOW it's going to be implemented. Oh and who is going to foot the bill is debatable too. Where's all that money coming from? I guarantee you PSE&G is not contributing those kind of numbers. Not even close. The American taxpayer is footing that monstrosity of a bill and I already lose almost 40% of my paycheck before I ever see it. And I really don't care about how some greeny is going to spin it. Let it happen on it's own. In the meantime you do you and I'll do me.

if a fanboy is being a realist then that’s me. No one is being forced to buys Evs or telling people how to run their lives. I’m not under that impression. Every time someone asks me to prove something or get facts and I do they go apeshit on me. Some can’t handle being wrong. If I’m wrong I will always admit it.

It's not about being right or wrong. It's about people living their lives the way they need to to survive. Like I said you do you and live and let live.
I never even considered an EV until gas prices went through the roof on top of the 8+% inflation now. How do I recoup that? By taking a look at Evs of course. Hmmm mission accomplished. That is how we are being forced to consider this technology in it's infancy when you have people saying that ICE will be abandoned in 7 short years. I can understand why someone younger and/or richer than I would be for this as soon as possible. I am neither and I'd bet a majority of the population of the country is in the same boat.

Nope as long as it's in proportion to the energy being used in the country right now. Right now, it's not proportional. EVs win. This was discussed a few weeks ago.

Get both . I don't think having a electric car as a second car is a bad option . I do wish car manufacturers could design a reliable affordable one though . More steered towards a no frills approach with more range and less focused on 0-60. Like a take anywhere park anywhere vehicle . A beater. For now I guess that's the leaf.

Sounds like this may be what you are looking for: https://www.alphamotorinc.com/ace

Of course, finding a new car that is a “beater” is a bit difficult.

I was messing with the interior fan settings on my wife's Tesla Model 3, there is a setting for "camping". If she kicks me out of the house I'll sleep in my RV.
