EV tax will probably operate like an electronic toll. Everytime you drive on a road you will be charged a tax. Will it be per mile? I doubt it. Every road you drive on will probably have a set rate for that road, or portion of road. All jurisdictions will have their own rates. You might be able to buy a subscription service where you can pay at a discounted rate. Will there be a speed tax that is also applied? I don't see why not, as states could profit from that. You will still pay a tax on your electricity as it flows from your meter, and what ever rates the supplier and provider of your electricity charges. You will also pay at the charging station what ever the going rate will be, and the tax on that electricity. Combined with what ever fees the owner of that charging station would like to apply.

I have a 2010 Tacoma and a 2017 Prius. They are pretty much the perfect pair for me. If I could afford it and had a way to plug in an electric car, I would sell the Prius and get a Model 3 awd.

Hmm. Until Tesla offers a full replacement battery if it fails (losing more than 5%) of capacity in 10 years/150,000 miles, why bother? I don't have a charger at work, can't install one at home (power grid does not support it), and even if I had the ability to charge one up, the Model 3 battery warranty is shit.
Can you imagine losing 30 percent of your gas powered vehicle's range or power...and the manufacturer NOT covering whatever warranty is on the drivetrain?
Don't get me wrong, I look forward to driving an e-car or hybrid, and the costs are coming down. Probably not a Tesla, though, as they're following the Apple model and making everything (including who you have service your car) under their control.

I guess this is all based on perspective. I visit San Diego almost every year to escape the frozen north. I’m always amazed at how almost every road in that area is smooth. These Michigan roads can swallow whole cars during the freeze thaw cycle. Which goes back to a previous point of why some of use drive a Tacoma. Unless you like spending money on alignments/suspension parts, you buy a truck.

I've seen a ton of new Tesla's on the road lately as well as a few auto transports hauling new Tesla's. All different models, but mostly model 3's.

3 years and almost 30,000 miles on my wife's Model 3. Loss of "Juice" at this point is negligible if any..

taco mt y tesla. both 2021
a tesla is a great companion to a taco, decent use-case overlap and polar opposites in strengths.

    both. get both.

Hell no…. Need a truck for truck things and a Rav4 Prime to commute! I haven’t bought gas for the Prime since Christmas (put in non-ethonal) electric is AMAZING but I think something like a prime is infinitely better than electric only. Long trip across the country, use Gas. Daily commute, use electricity, best of all worlds. Also FWIW I got $9300 in dollar for dollar tax rebates on it. Can’t say that about a Tesla.
