Saw a link to these on Facebook earlier today and really thinking about ordering one and trying to mount it in my arm rest console. Has anyone ever tried one of these or something similar? (I took the photos from their website www.madhousedesign.net)?

    Thanks in advance.

To be honest... probably one of the dumbest designs... open trigger, easily seen, etc. Especially if you carry something that just has a trigger safety like a glock or M&P, you are just asking for something to happen.

I would much rather get a kydex holster and go that route instead of having an exposed trigger all the time. My plan is to get a Ohai Modular Holster from Crossbreed (Already have 2 others from them) and mount it in my center console. I already have a IWB for my full size M&P and a OWB for my M&P Shield from them and both are great holsters. They have velcro on the back of them, so I could essentially get two holsters, and then make a velcro mounting plate inside the center console and just swap out holsters when I needed to or felt like it...

Yeah, if I got it it would be in my center console so it wouldn't be easily seen but the other points are valid, and I do have a trigger safety (Glock 19 Gen 4) - so I'm glad I got feedback. I currently keep it holstered in my Kydex holster (placed inside my glove box or my console) when I'm not carrying it, but thought this may be a better design if I ever needed to access it quickly.

If you wanted a way to mount it in the Tacoma, I would look at the Ohai from Crossbreed and go that route. I am going to be ordering one pretty soon for my Shield so it can be mounted in the center console. Would still be easy to access and everything.

I just took the holster that came with my xds mounted it to a piece of plexi along with a mag holster and mounted that in my center console. Works great, never had an issue, everything fits nice and tight and can quickly pull it.

I just mounted a Blackhawk holster inside my center console the other day. I attached it to my Saldex organizer. It's slick. Used the screws that come with the Blackhawk to go through the organizer and it holds my G27 perfectly. It's stable and easy to get to.

I have something similar called "Hide-a-gun" that's been living under my bed for 20 years doing a great job of concealing a pistol, yet offering quick access. The great thing is it will hold a handgun flat and tight underneath a horizontal surface. So it's perfect for under bed, under desk drawer, etc. Although the MadHouse looks close, it's a little bulkier, more complex, and costlier. I also don't see an external stop pin that will keep the handgun from rotating on the main pin. Such a stop pin is necessary for the horizontal mounting position I just described. Guess I'll need to call them to ask.

Regarding trigger "safety" I agree, but then I've never bought nor will I ever buy a pistol without a real safety. Trigger safety's on pistols are worse than no safety.

I keep mine IWB where it belongs. With the trigger covered. I'd never consider a holster that didn't cover the trigger that didn't let me carry chambered.

Someone suggested this mount on T4R.org. And someone also made the very good point that when the airbag blows your gun right into your crotch in the unfortunate event of an accident, that would not be very fun for anyone.

    Nooo!
    It's in the horn button!

I'd prefer a holster in the door pocket, but it's a cross draw from the left. Very slow.
I think it should be on the right of the driver's seat, in the bermuda triangle. Also with a flap in a color that matches the upholstery so it's not too obvious.

Don't say that too loud in Texas. The gun owners will peg you for an idiot and the crooks will peg you for a mark.
It's the same here. I live in a Rodeo town.

BTW, I think a .357 revolver makes a nice lumbar support.

I won't even use one in the safe, let alone on a moving vehicle.

I believe on the 4Runner's there is a knee airbag. At least I'm pretty sure on mine there was
