Just wondering if anyone has tried this. I have done a large amount of research (including Mythbusters) and it seems the evidence is pretty clear-cut that with the right ratio, acetone definitely helps gas mileage. From my research I found that the right ratio was determined to be no more than 3 oz per 10 gallons. All in all i think this site does the best job of presenting data.

So if anyone has tried this please let me know how it goes. I would love to do a test myself but I'm at college where I rarely drive. If i am going home it will be a perfect time to test (~4hrs highway driving on 236.5 miles). Until then anyone care to share their experiences.

A good test for your road trip would be to make sure you have AAA.

I did try it on my old VW before I got rid of it. I experimented with all of the ratios. Nothing ever worked significantly enough to attribute it to the acetone. I did all the experiments on a car that I knew I was getting rid of soon, so I didn't care about the long term implications of adding acetone to my fuel system. I saw no benefits and will not do this to my Taco.

thanks a bunch klown. I am planning on doing a test while driving home to NOVA from virginia tech. I'll let you all know of my results when it happens! Just for control data, last time I went home, I made it on 3/4 tank resulting in 22.4 mpg.

It only really works on supercharged engines. The Acetone increases the octain of the fuel.

I pump a gallon of Ethanol before I fill up each tank.

The ethanol cleans out the gunk/carbon, and I have noticed a slow increase in MPGs' over time.

you get 400 miles to a tank 'cause you drive slow. Which is good. I didnt hear you honk, some jackass seemed to think I wanted to hear his shit music while I pumped my gas.

    correct.

Adam saw it in his mirror, right after we turned back at the fork in the road.
