Anyone try one of the black Overlay kits for Tacoma letters and badges?

I have a 2017 Tacoma Limited and would like to change all the plastic letters/badges to black. I cannot find the "Limited" badge in black. Has anyone tried one of these black Overlay kits? These overlays go over the chrome letters and badges. How do they fit and durability?

Any other advice how to change from chrome to black other than pulling them off and painting? I'd rather get them black and new.

I know Toyota sells the Tacoma, V6, etc., badges in black. Does anyone know where I can get a black "Limited?"

    Thanks everyone!

No experience with the overlays but there are a handful of threads on here about painting or derping the emblems black. I'd go with one of these options over the overlay since they're likely be a lot cheaper.

My concern with painting or dipping is how to reattach them to the truck? How to get the tape cut exactly like the letters.

Use a razor and double sided 3m tape. It's pretty simple.

You don't need to remove them from the truck to plasti dip them. It's also durable too. Mine have been going strong for two years.

I would recommend using a toothpick over a razor if you've never done this before. Don't want to risk cutting into the clear coat

Edit: I just thought about your post and I think you're referring to the vinyl inlays--if so disregard my comment. My mistake--we are talking about 2 different things

Plasti dip is done in place. It's temporary, cheap and requires minimal effort. If you dont like it, peel it off. It isnt as nice as a good paint job, but has some benefits. Amazon has the overlays.

The razor is for cutting the 3M tape as I prefer to remove the letters from the vehicle.

Plastidipping badges is amazingly simple. Tape a square around the letters. Spray 4-6 fine layers of dip. Let dry. Peel up the tape. It's damn near that easy.

Mine have not peeled off yet either. My truck can only be washed at the high pressure DIY washes.

Taking the emblems off to paint isn't that much work, theres are threads all about this subject. Just do your homework and mark out where the emblems are BEFORE you take them off with tape, pictures, measurements, and any other available method. Once painted get some 3M double sided tape (don't be cheap on this, get the good stuff) and reinstall. Derp is cheaper and less effort but wont result in as high a quality product as paint.

Well if you decide last minute not to dip them, I have the overlay kit on my badging. Probably more expensive than plastidip but they held up well without issues, even during the heavy rain that California got the last few months.

I just made sure to clean the badging and heat up the glue prior to application.
