Has anyone put alpine type r 6x9 in the front doors using metra adapters? I ordered these without checking to make sure they will fit. I checked crutchfield after the fact and their site says they will not:(

You're going to need to run speaker wire from the connector in the dash for the tweeters, or better yet straight from the amp.

Not sure, but if you ordered them from Crutchfield, they will allow a return. I think they only charge ten bucks. I installed the focals that are specifically designed for the Taco and they sound great.

I ordered them from Amazon and forgot to see if those specific ones would fit before ordering. I have 6x9 metra adapters I plan to use. I'm hopeful after they are installed they will clear the window when it's down. That's my biggest worry. I noticed crutchfield lists other brands that fit that are "deeper"

I have the JBL system and I am not impressed. The mids are weak and it just seems lacking. I think if I went with some after market jbl's I would be much happier but there are so many options out there

When I ordered my Focal's I asked about the aftermarket JBL's and was told they aren't as good as the factory JBL's. No ideal if that's true, just what they told me.

Random, I was told the aftermarket were much better. The magnet is larger and they have a two part mid for better highs and mids.

You're probably right, just what Crutchfield told me, so I went with the Focals. I don;t know squat about audio

I love crutchfield and you prob got some great speakers. But they tell you what they want so they can push product. Ive been out of the car audio game for a long time cause I was Driving mercedes and they all have great speaker setups. I think I went from 9 speakers to 4 plus a sub. So now I have to decide what I want to do or not do.

If I could do it over again, I would not get the JBL in the truck. Its ok but not great and I can have someone install better stuff for the same or close to the same money.

I think you will be extremely happy with your 6x9's

Stereo install is happening this weekend and I'm not 100% sure on going with the DSP I got ( JL fix86 ) or replacing the entune. I'm not in love with the entune system, while it definitely meets most needs it seems a bit behind the times. Something with a better looking display and Android Auto is enticing.

Has anyone ripped out the entune? What will it do with the information box in the gauge cluster, does that lose all function or just partial?

As for the rest of the stereo which I'm super excited about is

    Alpine V9 5 channel amp
Focal K2 Power 6.5 components in front
Not so special Focals in the back
    JL audio 13TW5

I'll be doing my audio setup this summer. My plan so far:
    Alpine PDX 4x100
Alpine 6x9 replacement for factory size
Alpine 6.5 components for rear and use the tweeters for the front.
    Bquiet extreme 3mm
I'll cross over the 6x9 for the tweeters in the front and do a low pass filter for mids in the rear. Should give decent lows without having to squeeze in a sub.

    Option 2:
    5chan amp
    6.5 components up front
    6.5 2way rears
Hide a sub box and a 8 or 10 Alpine or JL

Did you retain the stock speaker wires or did you run new speaker wire to the amp?

You can see the new speaker wire in the pictures. Speedwire goes from factory deck to Amp, new speaker wire goes to new speakers from Amp.

Yes the stock speakers are a joke. I replaced the front speakers with some Pioneer 6x9 3-way speakers. The magnets on the stock speakers are about the size of a quarter. Very inadequate. I didn't really want to go to the expense of an amp, and certainly did not want to replace the head unit and loose the ability to change vehicle settings, so I found upgrading the front speakers was worthwhile.

Perhaps the speakers with the JBL system are better. I'm speaking only about the stock speakers in the basic system.

Jl 1" Tweeters, JL C3 6.5 Componets, JL C2 6x9s paired with a digital audio converter and the new rockford fosgate power series 4 channel amp. then subs i have an alpine mrv1200.1 amp with dual jl tw5 13.5"s behind the backseat in my 2017 double cab trd offroad. its absolutely ridiculous.
