Great, so the 4th gen will have less displacement than the 3.5. Why cant they invest in one for the 3.5? No replacement for displacement.

Supposed to be released in the fall, so closer to release date.

You guys keep forgetting what you get with each pro model, the Tacoma pro will have better shocks (progressive fox) and host of other things over the Tundra and 4Runner, apples to oranges, not too mention way more demand for the Tacoma version. Truck will easily be $42k at least.

I'm not so sure. The Limited is $39.4k with Tow Pack, and the TRD Pro lacks the sunroof (~$1k) and has smaller wheels. So the question is does Toyota charge more than $3.6k for:
    -Skewp
    -LED fogs
    -Locker
    -1" lift
    -Fox shocks
    -some stickers/badges/blacked out stuff
    -TRD knob
    -Skidplates

Another way to think of it is that the 6AT Off-Road is $37k with Tech and Tow, but that includes sunroof. So does Toyota Charge you more than $6k for:
    -Skewp
    -LED fogs
    -1" lift
    -Fox shocks
    -some stickers/badges/blacked out stuff
    -TRD knob
    -Skidplates
    -Leather

I think the answer to both questions is no. I bet the 6MT TRD Pro will be ~$40k, with the 6AT being ~$41k.

No, I will probably just buy the grille and do my own thing.

Maybe a better comparison would be the $50,000-$60,000 2017 Raptor.

Four Fox shocks are about $3k. A set of Raptor front coil are 2,700 on eBay.

Retail. If you added up the "parts counter MSRP" of every part in a Taco, you'd have a $100k truck. The reality is that 1) the truck already had shocks, so Toyota is just going to pass along the "upcharge" from their Bilsteins or whatever is currently on the TRD Off Road and 2) Toyota is getting wholesale pricing on the shocks.

I'm betting the actual incremental cost for Toyota to upgrade the shocks is more like $500. Considering that many of the other TRD Pro 'upgrades' (knob, stickers, wheels, skewp, etc) probably have an incremental cost for Toyota of nearly zero, basically you're looking at Toyota's incremental costs for leather, Fox shocks, and the fog lamps; which I'm estimating is about $1500. That translates to a ~$3k retail price hike over the TRD Off-Road, hence my ~$40k number for a 6MT Pro. Even $40k is a $3.5k hike over the 2015 6MT TRD Pro; can't imagine Toyota would go much higher, considering what $40k+ buys from other automakers.

Limited is more than the top packaged TRD OR which can go up to 41k. My TRD OR is the top package with JBL minus the bed cover and it was stickered at 39.4k. I sure as hell did not pay that much but I thought the limited was priced above the TRD OR due to other options it has over the TRD.

The fact that the TRD Pro is an OR with more options and better shocks and will be limited to about 1-2% of the Tacomas made it will be well above 40k. If it is not I will be shocked.

I guess we'll find out in a couple months. I guarantee the TRD Pro Taco doesn't come in more than the $43k TRD Pro Tundra. The 2015 TRD Pro Taco had a pretty modest upcharge over the Off Road, and it was 1) panned in the press for not adding much equipment and 2) didn't sell well (still a bunch on dealer lots). I bet Toyota keeps a similar ~$3-4k upcharge over the Off-Road, despite improving the equipment, since they don't want a repeat of the flop that was the 2015 Pro.

Even if it is a simple 3-4K up-charge from a TRD OR, thats almost 45k... But yes, time will tell when they release the MSRP price. Now will dealers put some kind of market charge on it like they did with some people trying to buy a 16 Tacoma...

Whatever I can get away with
Just spoke with a patient of mine last night. He's a sales manager at the local dealership. He said he was told at or around $42k.

Your also forgetting JBL and market demand dude, and you can't compare a limited to a TRD PRO, totally different ball game. The 15 pros were $36-38k. A trail edition colorado or whatever they call it is $42k. $42k or higher mark, we can revisit in the fall and I'll claim my beer then.

I was only talking about cost: 18" cast wheels are definitively more expensive than 16" cast wheels, and 18" tires are also more expensive than 16" tires for the tire brands Toyota includes as original equipment. The TRD Pro lacks JBL, correct? Or at least the 6MT model does, so that only further supports my point that Toyota clearly stripped equipment from the Pro to hit a price point. Whether that price point is $41k or $42k for the 6AT is splitting hairs; either way it won't be the $45k some people here are claiming.

I'm actually more interested in the lease residual for the 6MT Pro than the MSRP. The 6MT Off-road sits at a staggering 80% for 36/10k, so get a modest 5% discount and you only have to pay 5% depreciation/year, which is crazy good. I wouldn't be surprised if the Pro has similarly high residuals.

If it will be available in a long box and is a reasonable price, I will be all over it! I like that they are teaming together with some aftermarket companies (US companies at that) to put together a truck too.

For me it has all the suspension performance I could feasibly use, the better skid plate is a plus, locking rear diff and limited slip center diff (haven't heard much about this yet) is awesome, a small amount of lift over the OR for a better stance and room for larger tires, and its all covered under warranty if a part fails. I have a hard time picking and choosing what is best for me between all the suspension options out there for these trucks and to justify $2000-3000 in suspension (and of course modifying it doesn't stop there) after buying a new pickup doesn't fly well with the wife. haha But if it's built into a package that's somewhat reasonable then I could probably talk her into it! I would love to just get an OR and make it my own with an awesome suspension, wheels and tires, bumpers, sliders and blah blah blah.... but that get expensive real quick and makes the truck a difficult daily driver at some point. That's my $.02
