there are also a good number of different reasonings for "the best", all of which are different criteria for different people.

for instance, my brz, a low rolling resistance tire was specifically selected both for CAFE standards, but also for it's grip characteristics to compliment and enhance the characteristics of the vehicle. replacements were $400 each, and they were summer-only tires. my replacements run $130 each, are all-season, have better grip characteristics, but also dull the characteristics of the vehicle somewhat at the same time.

a discussion of best. Anything opens up so many variables it is nearly insane. One must also remember that the manufacturer is in the business to make money, not give you the absolute best product available.

If everyone was willing to pay $150,000 for a new Tacoma, I’m sure her manufacturer could make these with the best products available.

But the cylinders are not yet worn - so IF the product works it couldn’t fill any of the wear anyway right?

I see no claims of repairing/reconditioning existing wear.

    https://pim.liqui-moly.de/pdf/en_US/liqui/51/P000017

    Description:
High-tech anti-wear additive, suitable for most 4- stroke engines as well as manual transmissions and compressors. Reduces friction and wear thanks to a unique combination of ceramic compounds and chemical anti-wear agents. It will prevent direct metal-to-metal contact and reduce friction to increase engine life and efficiency in gasoline and diesel engines.
    Properties:
    - reduces frictional losses - use with diesel particulate filters - miscible with all commercially available motor oils - increases smooth operation - highest thermal stability - excellent high and low temperature behavior - ideal with turbochargers and catalytic converters - stable under extreme pressures - compatible with fine filters - no deposits - long engine service life - chemically inert - reduces fuel consumption

Though they do proudly proclaim that it "increases smooth operation" whatever in the fcuk that means.

And, of course, they insert weasel language to avoid any actual obligation for the product to actually meet their totally-amorphous claims.

If A mazon existed in the 1970's, STP would have had a 6 out of 5 star rating.

You know, the only reason Mario Andretti won the 69' Indy 500 was because he was running pure STP.
    Say some people....

Lube-Gard in my transmission? Sure. Even guys on here with shops recommend it ie @gearcruncher

This whatever it is in my engine… I need more proof or recommendations from actual mechanics with knowledge before I use something like this.

So how many bottle do you use? If it's 6.2qts total for the oil change, do you use one or two of these?

One and a half. Shake well before application with fresh oil. Takes upwards of 500 miles to realize the full benefits as the binding process takes some time and I believe it’s heat activated.

Cool, thanks. Just hit 90k and want to keep my engine running smooth, especially with winter about to hit and parking outside. Not uncommon for it to be 30°F or less when I leave for work in the morning.
So about 5.9qts of oil in addition to the 500ml of ceratec?

I do 1.5 bottles, a little over is not going to hurt anything.
