I posted pictures of my build on here about a week ago and since install I have had growing displeasure in the ride characteristics of my suspension. After looking further into the differences of icon vs Fox or king co I see Imade a bad decision in my suspension components. My truck is my DD and I do drive a lot, and is my "expedition" and mild rock climbing vehicle and the icons are WAY to stiff. Yesterday I had it flexed out just pulling up onto a steep dirt hill, and one of my rear tires came completely off the ground before the front really flexed at all. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestins to make what I already have work for me. I cannot really bring myself to have them revalved since it is my DD and i onto want the down time. Should I just order some kings/Fox shocks and when they come in out them on and sell the icons? Will something like a plate bumper help soften the ride? If I do p to replace them what is a nice soft coilover you guys are running that is geared more for low speed/ crawling soft suspension? Thanks in advance

How much preload are you running on your Icon's?

King's/Fox's will not really ride any better especially if cranked up to 3" of lift

My icon are pretty soft . How long have you had them on? Maybe there's a break in period :notsure:

They are at the 2" they came with from wheelers. I have not adjusted them at all. That is another fear I have, I would like to get it up to 2.5" because my 265/75r17 rub in reverse. It is not because of them being cranked to high...

And they have been on for about 300 mi

icons are amazing and not very stiff like said above how much do you have them cranked all the coilovers icon, king, fox perform the best around 2in of lift over 3in and you will have a stiff ride with any brand

I don't know why they would have, I don't have my receipt with me so I cant say. Would a front bumper and additional weight make the difference? I have skids and bumper coming from all pro so hopefully that will help. The ride is rough enough that the moment my girlfriend got in it after the lift even she noticed. :(

With only 300 Miles on them the springs have not even broken in, so the ride will be stiff, given time they will become slightly smoother.

Also, many people who wheel trails/crawl run Icon's with no issues or complaints about stiffness/flex.

If you're looking for a stock ride feel with a lift you're most likely not going to find it with C/O's

Check my build thread...too much to list.
The brand won't make a difference. My Fox 2.5 ext travel shocks are fairly stiff, but I do have a heavier rated spring. With aftermarket suspension as far as I know your truck won't ride like stock of thats what you're trying to get at. From my experience the faster off road I drove the smoother it felt.

edit: Not to mention the break in period others have mentioned.

I don't go fast off-road. When I'm out on the trails its mostly hunting or getting to where I will be hunting, so speed is counterproductive.

You have to give them Time to break in lil... Like a 1000miles or so and yes bumper and skids will soften them up dramatically
