You could very well be right. I purchased it because it only cost me $14.99 for a 5-quart container, so I purchased enough for 6 oil changes.

I wish I could fine the 0w-40 Mobil1 that cheap as my Grandsport Corvette takes 10 quarts and it's about $9.00 per quart.

And I said veeeeerrrrryyyy cold temps.

The kind of temps that coasting down the tiniest hill will cause your fluids to fall below operating temps. Well, anytime your not on the throttle constantly.
So I wouldn't be so sure that operating temps apply in that real scenario, and ambient temps do have a say in things.

Lets kick the dust off of this one....

Everyone has a valid point. But I dont think everyone is taking it to the furthest conclusion.

When comparing US specs/oil requirements to that of non-US markets, has anyone actually compared the 2GR-FKS of the two regions? After reading countless threads across many sites and even asking the Car Care Nut, the response to this scenario is along the lines of, "different regions have different engines. Even though the model numbers are the same, the internals are different."

If this is the case, then one should be able to compare part numbers based on region.

Since the 2grfks is the main topic of debate, this should be the baseline.

A handful of random internal parts, wrist pins, crank/rod bearings, cam bearings, rings, ect, should be looked up for the 2grfks for both the American market and lets say the Australian or eastern europe market. If these parts are physically different and not compatible from a Taco to a Klugger everyone's answer of 0w20 or not 0w20 will be answered.
