Bull Bar with fog lights, Pioneer DVD Stereo, Alpine Type R (front), Kicker 2 way (rear fill), Rockford Fosgate sub, JL Audio 300/4, Kicker 750.1, cheap spacer lift (came with the truck), BF Goodrich tires
If so, what are your thoughts? I have 2 amps, JL Audio 300/4 pushing the front and rear speakers (Alpine Type R fronts/ Kicker Coaxial rears) a Kicker 750.1 mono amp pushing a single 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 3 subwoofer in a ported enclosure that sits on the rear seat. I am thinking of getting a pair of JL Audio shallow mount subs for behind the rear seats and relocate the amps to under the front seats so I can utilize my back seat more. Does anyone have any 12-up inch shallow mount subs and how do you like them?

    Mistert,

I've had a JL 13tw5 in my 09 DCSB for about 2 years now. While I am happy with the added base that it gives to my system, I am sometimes left wanting more. If you are somewhat of a bass head, like me, and choose to go the shallow mount way then I would definitely try and squeeze 2 of them behind the seats.

As you can see my post count in not very high as I mostly troll the forum and read what others have to say. Hopefully someone such as ItalynStylion will chime in and give you his thoughts on the subject.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
I run 2 13TW5's because of space issues. I used to be a bass nut but have toned it down now. I am happy with the sound quality and bass of my TW5's. And I still have room to put stuff in the rear extended cab.

With minor modification( small spacer ) and some building skills you can get a single shok triton 12 behind the seat of a double cab.

THE Shok triton 10s are finally due in may, and you can actually fit 2 10s ported behind the rear seats with enough air space but amps would have to go under the seats or another location. IF space is an issue, id suggest 2 8s ported and with the above mentioned mod you can also get the amps back there

I figured I would use one really good sub vs 2 shallow mounts thinking they would give me more bottom end. The JLs look really nice and have rave reviews. I just wonder how they compare to a regular sub or 2 shallows vs 1 midgrade sub like I have. A lot to consider :)

The 10TW3 I heard was pretty darn good, so I'd imagine the 12TW3 will sound very good, too. I'm satisfied with my Stereo Integrity BM MKIV shallow mount. Sometimes I wish it had more output, but then again it's in a 0.6 ft^3 box. Digs very deep and sounds very smooth. A second one would be perfect.

i don't like shallow mount subs and on a cost basis they cost way more per value.
The MkIV is a nice speaker, the jl as well but in the end your a 12inch sub ported vs 2 shallow mount sealed...... there is simply no way to compare that and the output will not be comparable.

You should run four PIONEER TS-SW2502S4 10" behind the seats an run the amps under the seats,
That is my plans any how lol.

    GL,

I personality wouldn't waste my time with these.
The "specs" on these seem off, their recommendation seems off and generally by the time you paid for 4 of them you can achieve much better results with only 2 quality dvc subs :) anyhow, Gl with the project

The guys at 5 Star Car stereo said they were very impressed with these subs.

If you want to spend more for better sound Sundown makes really good shallows.

I have heard them and was not impressed at all, sorry. I personally hate shallow mount topology. Digital design has a great one, as well the Stereo Integrity BM MKIV as wicked. Sd subs are solid as well as the JL shallow mount but the problem i have w them they are Huge $$$. Id venture to say that any of the above mentioned would Massively outperform those pioneers.

    now granted,

The Shok triton 8-12 cannot be beat for $ value to performance :)
12s are hard to fit but its possible, the 10s are easy and the 8s are easy and fit well.

A couple members here should have a review of them and a couple more to come :)
