I first heard of how well this oil does on motorcycles two years ago. I wondered if anyone on this forum uses it on their Tacos. I havent reasearched any lab results but It would appear like a good maybe not 100% equal alternative to Mobil One Full Syn. At roughly 2/3 the cost. I can say when I had my 95 5 liter Mustang I used Oreily house brand and Wix filter every 3500-4000 miles and put 300k miles with no issue, heavy foot at that. Sold it to my coworker they did a compresion check and it did great. Good enough to leave the bottom end alone and do a cam heads lower and upper intake swap and the car still runs fine. Maybe the exeption IDK.

use a proper car oil in your truck..... the Rotella T and T6 are GREAT oils, but lack energy conserving additives that are found in a proper gas vehicle oil. Energy conserving additives make the oil more slippery in the face of added friction, and is why people commonly use Rotella T / T6 in their motorcycles as their wet clutches are prone to slipping if an oil with those additives are used. Our trucks engine oil does not bathe a clutch etc so there is no point to run an oil like rotella that doesnt have those additives.

Also note, that a jug of Rotella is 4 quarts (synthetic is ~ 20 bucks a jug), whereas mobile 1 full syn is ~ 25 for a 5 quart jug.... that works out to the same price.

Check the specs. Does Rotella T meet the spec Toyota asks for? If you have a catestrophic failure and they test your oil and find it is out of spec you are out of warantee.

I love Rotella T. I use it in all of my diesels. It meets the spec and is the highest rated oil with a huge fan following. But I don't use it in my motorcycles or my lawn tractor. I use oil that meets the spec of each engine.

Honestly I use T-6 in almost everything I own, including my KLR650, two lawn mowers and my super reliable 6.0 Powerstroke . I currently run Mobil 1 in both cars but that's only because I keep catching their $10 off rebate. If I needed to I wouldn't think twice about running T-6 in my Tacoma.

Specs who needs specs? I know better than the engineers who design and test the stuff.

I have been hearing so many people who use RT for everything even when it doesn't meet spec. If diesel oil met the same spec as that for gas engines they would slap a few extra letters on the label that says it met those specs. But they don't which makes you wonder why or at least it should. Who wants the liability of potential millions when those engines fail?

FYI Rotella T and T6 meet both JASO MA and MA2 spec for use in motorcycles (wet clutch applications)

That stated i wouldnt use it in my Gas powered car as it does not meet the specs as it DOES NOT have energy conserving additives.
