I bought my rc 4x4 tacoma in aug of 2012, right away I started keeping a log book of MPG'S and OIL Changes. With now 15K on the clock I now have a good idea of what works as it relates to gas. First, I've found that premium gas runs very well in it and when I use sta-bil it's even better, I also get almost 1/2 mpg better when using it with prem or reg gas. Over all I get 23.7 mpg with the additive and 23.3 without it. That's pretty good in my book and I'm a firm believer that if you can max your MPG'S then your engine is running with less stress on it and probably running cleaner. And just for the record, my leaf blower and weed eater won't even run on reg gas without sta-bil so I usually get some ethanol free gas for them and I'm gonna try it in my tacoma for a while and update this later. Tell me what you do for truck.

I know stabil works well in my lawn mower but never tried it in my tacoma. I'm skeptical that you would be able to tell a difference of 1/2 mpg, too many other variables could affect things that much.

Not doubting your results but its hard to see fuel savings on a test stand with fuel additives much less in real world driving.

at the end of the day is that 10 miles per tank really worth the cost of the sta-bil and premium? over the course of a truck's lifetime?

I run 87 octane and throw a bottle of Tectron fuel additive in every few fill-ups... truck runs great and i've never noticed the "toyota tick" noise everyone talks about. When towing the boat up to the lake for some fishing i sometimes fill-up with 89 octane. Can't tell you what the mpg is... i've never bothered to check it.
