Haha, brackish water filtered through moss...pretty obvious. I like how the medic was like 'yeah, that's not safe.'

I think Mitch wins it. He been posting a lot of vids on YouTube lately. I think he's been enjoying the 500....lol

I wonder if anyone will hire him anymore for his survival expertise?

Yeah, he is doing well. Bad call preparing and eating that fish in camp though. Looks like he's got a new pet cat.

Thats what I was thinking. Probably best to have a separate cooking site from his main camp.

Hopefully someone can answer this question, but when salmon come back to the rivers to spawn, aren't they basically at the end of thier life cycle? Are they safe to eat?

Guys on other survival shows have eaten salmon raw and got away with it. Les Stroud even ate one an eagle had left behind and didn't die.

I sympathize with those guys. I've only watched to episode 3 so far on the 'net.

Food is scarce there. Even if you're on a beach, not every beach is a good clam beach and even then, without a good tool they are hard to gather. Mussels and limpets? Well good luck gathering enough to survive on. Too bad Josh quit right away. he was right on a salmon stream for goodness sake. Of course that is why the bear was there too.

Charged and scared by a bear? That would scare me too. but it was kind of telling that they only had to drive from Holberg and walk down to the beach to get him. Alone in the wilderness alright.

The fear of cougars is really exaggerated. I spent 35 years living up there and played in the woods often alone even as a small child. Attacks have happened, but mostly on pets.

But those guys aren't from there and being out of their element and having been deliberately frighted (on purpose by the producers I suspect) I can understand their nervousness.

They start to die when they enter fresh water but being that they are basically on the coast , the fish would be fine

    **

They are almost all Americans so they can't legally hunt big game without a guide. And it's illegal to trap or net fish while sport fishing. Even if you are making a video of your camping trip.

Surely some one made arrangements with the government before hand.
Salmon will most likely be their food.

I think so, a few of the guys took a bow and 6 arrows with them. Mitch also netted a salmon on the last episode. Was that a chum he got?

That's what a big portion of the mainland looks like as well. Even worse the last couple of years with the pine beetle driving along the Coquihalla its been dead trees for as far as the eye can see.

We have the bark battle problem too. Not sure if it's the same bug but the destruction seems the same.

Yeah ours is called the mountain pine beetle evil little buggers. I have family that lives on a lake about an 3 hours North East of Vancouver and we go up to their place a few times in the summer. Every year it has seemed to be getting worse, except this year it seemed allot greener up there.

Thats good, the greener I mean. I kinda get the impression they're like locusts. Once they eat up all the trees they die off or move.

I'm not a fan of Lucas either whoever voted for him. I still think Mitch wins it cause he won't reply or anything to my comments. If Mitch doesn't win it I think Alan might, he's my second pick.
