Actually, in technical terms, it's a lot more simplistic. Just plug in a new computer.

That said, if it's a faulty design, you're screwed, which is the question everyone seems to be asking right now. Also, this is probably a more expensive repair.

One credit I'll give to Honda is most of their vehicles still use throttle cables. Let's hear it for good ol' fashioned physics ladies and gents...

I agree I would rather have more control over things (i.e. Throttle cable)

In my opinion its just a matter of many components that could play a factor. Environment for example we all know heat kills. In a computer if your cpu fan goes out you will start experiencing abnormal behavior.. Same thing here it could be a case of a bunch of things coming together (heat, cpu code, lack of fault cases, and lack of correct fault code corrections)

No I was just using that as example of outside cases playing a roll. I am not an electrical engineer like Dr. Gilbert, but thats my take on it.

just seems like they shouldn't use computers or wireless signals unless they have to for some reason. if it ain't broke, dont fix it. throttle cable has been fine for decades, no need to change it now

True. I can go to a junkyard and get a cable for like $10. I don't think I'll get off so easily picking up a computer.

Missed the first part of the 2nd half, but it sounds like Tacoma will be getting a CPU software update? Anyone catch all that?

"for the models that are technically able to get it" whatever htat means. they are also talking about retrofitting existing models with a brake overide system.

I think that was BS.. why ask a Marketing CEO questions in marketing and warrenty/recall manufacturing specific question he doesn't know then "submit to the record" that there asking him to answer complex questions in Yes or No form.. Tell me how thats fair?

Some things cant be answered in Y/N form!!!! This is BS

What about that cry baby with the Lexus. She claimed (lied) that her car accelerated to over 100 mph after shifting the transmission into neutral then reverse with both feet on the brake pedal and the e-brake pulled? Am I the only person that thinks that this is complete and total BULL SHIT!!!!!!!!

That bucktooth guy is Henry Waxman.

He's also got a pig's nose - someone should tell him to keep his head down so we don't look right up into his head when he's talking.

He's the same bastard that led the inquiry into whether Roger Clemens took steroids or lied about steroids or some such nonsense. What a fucking waste of time.

A good portion of the US is without health insurance (how many people does that kill every year?), we're graduating fewer phd's than China, we've got 2 fucking wars going on (oh yeah, how many 20 year olds does that kill every year?) with CIA and Blackwater agents running all around the fucking place, our roads and bridges are falling down around us, unemployment is at 10%, the national debt is at an all time record (with China smiling and holding the IOU's). Did I miss anything?

Seriously, does Congress really give a rat's ass about any of this?

I laughed in skepticism. Sad that it happened but Im with you.. Maybe in the past 3 years she made herself believe she did that to make her story. She might as well say che had time to do her makeup and why would she take the time in all that to call her husband? If my car was out of control I wouldn't think to start making phone calls.. But thats just me.
