Sheldon mentioned why Gen 4 is the same length as Gen 3, but it is still disappointing, nonetheless. Every generation of the Tacoma has gotten bigger, beside this one. If not, at least give us an extended double cab option.

Toyota has to prioritize current Tacoma owners over a new Tacoma buyer (soon) like myself. The whole garage issue make sense, but at least give consumers choices. If Gen 4 was bigger, it could potentially steal more F-150 customers as well.

I don't mind buying an extended double cab long bed because its width is still the same for tight off-road trails. Something you cannot do in a full-size pickup.

The 3rd gen was already close to the girth of a full size truck of just a few years ago, yet classified as 'midsize'.

If you want a full size, buy one. Toyota even makes one if branding is your thing.

The Tacoma is bloated enough as it is.

I think you’re gonna find a lot of guys here wish it was actually smaller. The same size as the 1st gen

All of the press at reveal said the wheelbase is longer than the 3rd gen. Why would the Gen 4 need to be the size of a full sized truck? It's a mid sized truck.

Exactly, that's why Toyota offers the Tundra.

Wish it was smaller. Or at least shorter.

Yep. But people insisted they wanted a bigger truck and now they got it. And....it's still not big enough. The millennials are here!!!

Why bigger? Any bigger and it would be a Tundra.
Personally, I believe if they offered a smaller version of the Tacoma about the size of a 1st Gen, they would sell like hotcakes. 1st Gens are a blast to drive.

I wish I could take a foot off the 5’ bed as it is. I don’t need it.

Wow a 3/4 ton truck that does not truck that well. I recall those were equipped well for offloading, but could probably be out wheeled by a Wrangler.

Even crazier GM brought back an electrified version. Followed up by the HD ZR2, and HD AT4X. GM knows they won't sell many HD electric offroad vehicles, the overlap of demographics for that segment is too small for people to be interested. GM still has to sell those interested parties on the electric Hummer.

All Ford would need to do with the Bronco frame is extend the rear 10" and they would have a good platform for a US regular cab truck. They could offer the 2.7 and 7spd combo on 35's. That would be more appealing than the Ranger Raptor.

So, about 8 trim levels/configurations on the Tacoma and 7 on the Tundra isn't enough choices?

They already have it for the overseas market.

    Not enough space for rtt.

Maybe but I like my rtt mounted low over bed. More like Ford Maverick but on a frame.

That roof area looks plenty for a RTT.

I'd drive that, looks better than an F-150, and it looks better than the 4dr 6G Ranger. The elongated front clip looks more cohesive with the long bed and 2dr cab. Still needs a front bumper, and some more Raptor cues wouldn't be bad. Even with out a real front bumper that Ranger looks better than any other midsize truck.

I saw this F-150 back in 21. 3.5tt6 HDPP, max tow FX4 36 gallon tank. I don't think those can be optioned that way anymore.
