Other than the front end, if the Tacoma is too small, wouldn’t the new Tundra be the right size?

Not quite. It's smaller than the Gen 2 Tundra. And even the Gen 2 Tundra is smaller than an F-150. However, Gen 2 Tundra had a fantastic cabin size. With that said, Tundra doesn't come in manual transmission. No manual, no buy. To know awareness, no full-size truck today comes with manual transmission.

I think Dodge had the last full size manual back around 2019, today the only manual trucks are the Gladiator and the Tacoma.

I drove a 2000 GM 3500 with a 5spd a handful of times it wasn't bad, but I don't think I'd want to drive a manual fullsize truck every day.

The main dump I used to drive for work was a Chevy C70 that had a 5 speed and a 2 speed rear end, that was fun double clutching and all…

While I do miss a manual in my personal truck, after driving an auto, not sure I can go back to one as a daily.

So the 3G Tundra hits that sweet spot size wise between a Taco and Big 3 Full-size…

    …but no manual. Gotcha.

You wouldn’t happen to be a woman, would ya?

    :D

No, no, no! I want the Tundra to be as big as an F-150 because that the perfect full-size pickup on the market. That was my hope for the Gen 3 Tundra. And if the Gen 4 Tacoma was the same size as the mid-size Chevy Colorado, that would have been perfect as well.

I did entertain the idea of buying the F-150, but no manual, no buy. Same with the Titan. No manual, no buy. Tacoma is small for me, but at least it comes in a manual and can traverse tight trails.

Even if it was my dream truck, the Ford Raptor...no manual, no buy. Sorry, not sorry.

    LOL!

Yeah I used to be a manual trans hold out too, that changed after driving my 3G Tacoma for the last 1.5 years, have grown to like it, while not exactly the same…the S Mode is good enough to use some engine braking on descents like a manual. Plus can do some spirited driving if you want to, don’t do that anymore, sloooow and steady now.

Driven both the new Tundra and the F150, dunno..the Ford’s ergonomics feel a bit weird, i like to rest my arm on the top of the door, the Ford is higher and the Tundra is just right. Seating position is better in the Tundy too, it hits that sweet spot size-wise, and with a ton more power than my Taco. Was kinda dead set on getting a Ford as the next truck, now I don’t know. The Tundra rides and drives a hell of a lot better than the F150 too.

F-150 does drive like a truck, but that Tundra gets pricey quick and that's for a well equipped mid level truck. I like the SR, but if I'm buying a new Tundra it's going to be an OR.

$60k that's the lowest price OR pkg+tow mirrors, TRD lift kit that factory stance isn't going to cut it, and that isn't counting dealer installation and the proper size tires to fill out the lift. Might as well get an HD at that point.

I think the Rivian would be the perfect size for me. I haven't sat in one yet but I love the lack of center console for my right knee to constantly press into. I'm just not ready to spend 80k and not ready for a fully electric truck.

Would be ok with the SR if I could tune it, can’t find any info if you can bump up the power numbers to like the SR5 and above. They other is it “only detuned”, or doesn’t have the extra parts, like bigger oil coolers, and such. Tow rating is only 8000 lbs on the SR, so guessing they deleted some parts.

As far as I can tell, no 36 gallon fuel tank or tow/haul mode available on the SR. Guessing it has smaller oiler coolers or something, doesn’t really say.

I miss having a bench seat, does anything still come with a bench seat in the US?

If you are comparing truck based on body style the Rivian and Ridgeline are close. Despite the Rivian being BOF and the Honda being unibody. The Rivian being more capable offroad, but no one outside of a YT video is tacking a Rivian offroad. Unless you count parking on the gravel lot at the nature park as OR. The Ridgeline, or any midsize Rwd truck can handle that task quite well. The price tag on the Rivian is it's biggest down fall. I guess it's fast, and the adjustable ride height is a novelty. You can also talk about skipping the gas station, until you have to wait in line for the model Y to vacate the super charger stall. Yeah I guess that's cool.

Me too, my work ram 2500 has the 6th seat option but not a true bench. I think all big 3 base models have it but once you started adding some options your forced to get a center console shifter and lose it. The 2021 tundra you could get the 6th seat option but then no 38 gallon tank. Like what the heck does that have to do with a seating option. :annoyed:

I had a 2010 Sierra with the front bench seat. You could lift the cushion from the seat and have locking under seat storage, you could also drop down a gigantic center armrest if you folded of the middle seat back forwards, which had more storage and cupholders and stuff.

Now you have all these center consoles and bullshit which even eat into driver and passenger foot space, even though there’s nothing mechanical behind it.
