My truck has the bench seat, I liked the console better as the arm rest was shorter. I do like the open space in front of the middle seat better. Along with the column shifter, but I could have got the console and column shifter if I wanted to. If there was a shorter consoel that was only the length of the seat I think that would be the best compromise. I looked at some metal consoles but have no use for one. No console should provide easier access to the evaporator core in the event of repair.

The GM bench was the tits.

    IMG_2494.jpg

The one in my Taco wasn’t as nice.

But if you do away with the floor shifter and move to a column shifter that opens up all that real estate. Do they even use column shifters today?

I notice a lot of trucks and SUVs are being styled on the inside like sports cars even though they share zero function with them.

Can’t say I am fan of bench seats or column shifters. Been driving Toyota manuals too long, though my ‘92 had a bench, swapped out some Acura buckets and did a Tuffy console.

The bench in my ‘76 F250 was hilarious, literally sitting on box springs, hit a bump hard enough your head would smack the roof, didn’t really wear seatbelts back in those days. Dunno, we had benches in a our work trucks, nothing like sitting hip to hip with a big sweaty guy, while trying to shift a Borg-Warner T-18…someone’s knee is getting jammed or an elbow in the gut.

Need that console for my personal space…;:) lol!

I laugh because the GM owners complained with the interior refresh because they got rid of the column shifter on some models and it was chaos. Just goes to show you there is no 1 perfect truck out there, just close to perfect for many. Which in the HD world you see lots of Fummins conversions.

I wish it had a larger back seat area. Imagine a tundra crewmax which might be the next truck for me as my kids get larger.

So, you want a full size cab, but still want a Tacoma? What?

I think the same overall length as the 6ft double cab but with a 5 ft bed and extra foot for the back seat. Just like dodge does with the mega cab. Although then I would probably complain they should offer it with the 6ft bed too.

The proportions would make that a hideous truck. Just go tundra crewmax if you need more room

The sports bar on this thing looks weird enough and that's a long bed. If the cab was that long paired with a short bed.

Completely agree. I like a lot of things they did. They claim to have listened to the fan base for a lot of changes and for the most part it seems they did except for the accessory roll bar thing. That just seems so worthless and stupid looking.

Although I did see one just yesterday on a 3rd get and it had a basket on top. Wish I was able to get a picture in time to post here. Blew my mind that someone would do that.

For the double cab it looks like there is less leg room in the 4th gen vs the 2nd & 3rd gens. Not sure why to Toyota reduced the leg room.
