Nope, it should be smaller. This is from someone who is 6'2" and 210lbs. Big trucks are stupid.

    Don’t be sorry. :)

Yeah the 1G Tundras were about the perfect size and engine combo if you got the V8. Interior was little to be desired though.

Toyota should have stayed weird and never tried to challenge the Big 3 in the full-size market. Should have kept the Tacoma small. That said fairly content with the size of my 3G. Not perfect but it is close.

Haven't posted much on TW but I've gotta say I'm happily surprised at all the "man, the gen 1 tacos were actually a pretty good size" and "I wish Gen 4 was smaller than Gen 3" in this thread. Team Shrink Ray lfgggg

I'm really surprised how small the Gen 3 cabin is. It's slightly more head room in Gen 4. The back seat is useless for tall people. Yet it's still the most popular mid size truck.

I also don't like the small back end. Maybe just me but I like a bigger back end cuts down on tail gating. So it's a pretty big footprint but tiny cab, my CRV felt huge compared to the Gen 3, and bed looks tiny.

I'm really glad the Taco I was going to buy got damaged being trasported to dealership and ended up with a 2021 Tundra. The double cab has way more room in the back seat than full size Taco.

I also would have wanted the 4th gen. I think I would have hated the Gen 3 and just going to stick to full size. Getting 17 mpg on the Tundra which is good enough as I don't rack up a lot of miles and driving bigger truck feels safer and a pleasure, 6 foot bed, and better options for bed racks. I'm just using the ones off my F150 for now, but these would look oversized on a Taco, and was going to have to pay out some big bucks for the Yakama or something that could adjust down.

This one with 10k miles was same price as Taco and previous owner did some nice upgrades. Perfect truck for me.

Not a hater tho. Taco is very reliable truck, and likely would have been fire with that, especially if I drove more miles, as it gets better MPG.

Just wish it was a bit bigger and finding bed racks was more challenging.

ETA: Can also tow more and may get a travel trailer.

But Tacoma is best selling mid size for a reason. I just prefer more size and think my Tundra double cab is bad ass and perfect for me. I don't need or want 4WD either so kind of minority, but for 40k truck there has to be some kind of compromise.

Yeah, I’ve always notice the double cab tundra had more room in the back than the double cab Tacoma. Happy with my crew max but not something I really get to enjoy as a passenger, but more room for my wife’s stuff and dog.

Not perfect but things def changed and an older pic.

both trucks were roughly same distance from garage doors +/- a few inches. I do think the tundra was still a little further back though

Just saw a current Gen Tacoma in-person at a parking lot. Honestly, it is really small. Backseat is so limited, and the front cabin isn't that much bigger. It interior is smaller than my Honda CRV.

I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
I wish they were smaller. Much smaller. If I wanted or needed a full sized pickup, I'd buy an American model.

First generation Tacomas were perfect because you could haul a couch, or throw some firewood in the back to go camping, while retaining the price and fuel efficiency of a car.

That's what made them so popular, and I feel like there'a still a huge market for smaller pickups.

Let the Tundra get bigger to compete with the American models. Tacomas should be smaller.

My 1st Gen was my favorite Tacoma so far. It killed me having to get rid of it, but it was just getting too expensive to maintain.

Don't get me wrong. I love my 3rd gen. But if Toyota offered a light pickup the size of a 1st Gen, I'd trade this one in in a heartbeat.

I'm 6' even, and longer in the body than in the legs. I actually fit into my 1st & 2nd Gens better than I do into my 3rd gen.

Granted, that's because my 3rd gen has a sunroof, which reduces the ceiling height by 2 inches. But even ducking into the door is noticeably more difficult. Especially as I'm currently off work with a neck injury.

I know right!? My 1G V6 gets 15-17. My 3G is currently pulling 20-21 in town, heavier, plus much more power.

I drive both of them back to back, the 3G is a hell of a lot more comfortable than the 1G, night and day difference. Used to have a bunch of nostalgia for the 1G, that soon faded after owning the 3G.

I don't think you would be alone. I love driving my '96. It pulls like heck in 4x4 and turns on a dime.
