Anyone with a 3" lift downsize from 285's to 265's (70/17)? Any regrets?

    Bone stock. For now.
This is the reason I went with the P-rated Falken Wild Peak A/T3W in the 285/70R17. They only weigh 50.5lbs versus 65.5lbs in the same size in the 10 ply LT.

Here's a front I'll grab a rear later today after work. They drive good so far. A little washing sometimes but the rds around here suck so that's expected.

I run 255's Cooper ST Maxx. Never run a 285 so I cannot comment there. I've only tested fitted a set and they rubbed the cab mount for than I liked. I have run several sets of 265 Cooper AT/3s though. Appearance wise the 255's win hands down. Performance wise I'd have to go with the 265. Obviously the ST Maxx will outperform the AT/3 offroad, but for a pavement rig with occasional off highway any AT tire will work. I personally love the AT/3 in all environments. This tire has great road manners, I got good MPG, they looked good, almost zero rubbing, and they handled anything I threw at them with regard to traction offroad.
@Pboudreau you mentioned MPG being a priority. Note that most 255s will only come in 10 ply. This results in a heavier than average tire, in any size. I have not weighed them, but I would almost guarantee that my 255 ST Maxx are heavier than the 285 AT/3.
I think weight affecting performance was a leading factor in @EdinCincinnati getting rid of his 255s. Just food for thought.

The STMaxx in 255/80r17 is 59lbs.

    The A/T3 in 255/75r17 is a 4ply at 38lbs.

Well so far I'm pretty impressed with them. Truck is better off the line (not racing or anything) but can tell the difference from heavier tires I had before. Wet traction has improved. Gonna go out this weekend and check off road wise. Nothing too crazy though.
