I must say that I'm quite happy with the factory tonneau cover. The bed is very dry in rain and I like the OEM quality. It does have its drawback though. I don't like that you can really only utilize 2/3 of your bed with the cover flipped back. I haven't removed it yet, but the process doesn't sound simple and I hear it weighs 80lbs. If I had it to do over, I probably would've bought the TRD OffRoad without the hard try-fold cover that was on the lot. I primarily bought my Sport for the hard cover and JBL Sound.

That 1/4 inch gap would be right before the bed flares inwards. It would make the bed part flush and perfect but then as you make your way towards the cab there is a gap. Hard to explain without pictures. Gonna try to play around a bit with it tomorrow after work on one side and see what happens

Interesting. Not sure where it flares as my bed cap seems to be a straight line from front to back, and the cover rails sit tightly along the inside edge of the cap the entire length. Good luck getting it to fit tight. Share pics if you can!

The exterior edge doesn't flare inward, but the interior edge does. A bed cap may not show this, particularly if it's attachments/rails don't go to the very last few inches.

@ChasVS Thats where it flares into the bed. If I make it fit perfectly there, then there's an issue with gap as you move towards the cab, the gap later closes but there's a lot of space. Kind of hard to explain

Interesting. Here's the Top and Edge view of my installed cover rail on that side. The outer edge rubber gasket on the cover rail rides on top of the bed cap from back to front.

I'm very happy with my OR factory cover. With the added tailgate pop-n-lock, it makes for a huge secure trunk!

Got my 2016 used (8 months old) and it came with an undercover flex. I love how it looks and it works perfectly for what I want, I do wish it didnt cover up the rails in the bed though so I installed some D-rings for tie downs.
Its fairly waterproof but leaks in the corners a bit during heavy rain. Good enough for me but I do have a waterproof toolbox I can slide in under it if I want to carry electronics or something that cant get a little wet.

Weather Tech floor liners. BAKFlip VP tonneau cover.
I have a BAK Flip VP and it looks great. You have to shut the tail gate before closing the last panel. It sits nearly flush with the top of the bed.

Likewise, I've been quite happy with my factory cover so far. With the power tailgate lock that locks with the doors, it's reasonably secure storage.

It'd take more effort to break into the bed than to get into the cab. Windows glass is easily and quickly broken out.

    tint soon...

you need the cut out bed covers and track and the rear mounting panels. its a lot of work and if you strip your truck in a shipment trade deal youll be down for a while.
