Factory cover on my 2016 DCSB and I'm happy with it. Stays dry pretty much. Minor water intrusion in the heaviest of rain with the truck sitting still. Only thing that I don't like is when it's folded up it's not flush to the bed. But if it folded like some I've seen then you can't see out of the back window so it's an either or situation I guess.

$650 MSRP, $579 invoice in SouthEast Toyota land, not sure about elsewhere. Bed rails do get trimmed some, though if buying a used one many people try to meet up and swap rails as well.

Mine also leaks down the sides so I am trying to get Toyota to buy it back so that I can get something reasonably leak free.

Water gets under that worse than my TruXedo Lo Pro. That is a sad deal there. And I hope you get a refund from Toyota!

I have the factory and it works great. Rain does seep in a little, but not that much. If I wanted a cargo area that was completely waterproof, I'd have bought a 4runner.

Rain does get in on the sides. A couple towels around the sides and my amplifier speaker cabinet stays dry in the middle of the bed.

Factory Tonneau here, I was surprised that after I pressure washed the truck, I checked the bed and found almost no water entry. I am not expecting a water tight seal, but I was pretty impressed none the less.

I did not expect it to be leak proof but I didn't expect a sieve either.

From today after a light rain and just sitting in my driveway:

Mine does not leak that much. It still doesn't look that bad for the bed of a truck. I wonder if whoever installed it didn't put the plastic pieces over the hinges? The only way to have it pretty much waterproof is to get a fiberglass one that lips over the bed. I like the ability to fold mine. I make frequent trips to Home Depot for wood, and I don't think I'd like a one piece tonneau. Anything with hinges is going to leak.

I read others on here who say the leaks are minimal, this isn't minimal. I don't want a one piece either. I am thinking of either a Bakflip MX4 or the Gator Trifold. The Gator is a soft top but I don't keep anything valuable in my bed over night and it is still secure, unless of course someone takes a knife to it. The Gator reviews indicate that it keeps the bed fairly dry and it is reasonably priced. The Bakflip would be more secure but it is more expensive and it has some water intrusion, but not like what I am experiencing, or so I hope! I mainly want the bed dry so that I can have items in there when I am out and about or traveling with items back there and it starts to rain.

Ouch, don't think mine is quite like that as it doesn't puddle that much. It does leak though during heavy rains down the sides.

My recommendation would be the Leer Trilogy. Probably the easiest TrI fold on the market to take on and off, is secure, and is pretty wafter proof. Leer just released a new cover called the trilogy x2t that looks pretty nice. No reviews for it yet though.

Good news, the dealer is going to buy back my OEM cover and install the Bakflip MX4. I will pay the difference between what I paid for the OEM cover and the new Bakflip. They will cover the labor. I am very happy with them as I always have been when dealing with Toyota and any of their dealers. This is my 6th Toyota and all I have ever had to pay for is consumables, tires, breaks, oil etc. I did have an alternator fail outside of warranty on a Tundra but Toyota ended up paying for that too.

My truck accidentally came in with the factory Toyota tonneau. I as dismayed, and thought I would just sell it. But, I gotta tell you, I'm really liking it alot!! It has been totally weatherproof, and easy to use. Had I not had it from the start, I may have made a different choice, but I'm happy with it and plan to keep it.

I had a backflip rolling cover on my last truck. It leaked much like my factory Toyota does now. I can't imagine any hard folding cover will keep it dry because of the hinges. Good luck.

I guess I will have to pick something else, Bakflip is not shipping the MX4 at this time. I called them and the response was it is in engineering with no ETA. I could just get the G2 but now you guys have me considering the Leer. I need to find some reviews on it.

I had this one, and it water seeped in on the sides, just like my factory Toyota does. The Revolver x2 looks like it may keep water out pretty good for something that's not a one piece design.
