2010 with 47k miles now purchased with 34k. Shifted a little clunky at first, MT90 helped smooth it out quite a bit for me but I needed to learn the incredibly slow shift timing on this beast. Unless I'm pulling a trailer I tend to use 1-2-4-6 shift pattern most of the time since you have to wait forever for the ECM to decide to let the RPM drop anyway skipping 3rd and 5th seems to fit for me. I can double clutch and shift my 1936 Dodge with no 1st gear syncro faster than I can shift this new truck. I haven't owned a daily driver with an automatic transmission since 1993, I've driven lots of different manuals over the years.

Biggest issue for me is the rev-hang I absolutely hate the throttle response on this truck. As an Engineer who did ABS and Traction Control calibration in the past the thing that bugs me the most about this rev hang is it's just a software fix away from perfect but obviously the kid who tuned this electronic throttle never drove manual transmission vehicles.

Bought the truck with 6 miles, and noticed it right away. It's was gone after 300 miles. But it could have been I changed my style of shifting, like everyone says it's a truck , not a sports car.

I never worried about the 6spd, did fine for me for 30k miles. I just banged through the gears same as I did with the 5-spd manual on the '98 Tacoma and the 4-spd manual on the '90 Toy truck. They're "notchy" I guess is the terminology, as in it takes a firm hand and a firm clutch throw. 192,000mi on the '90, 105,000mi on the '98, 30,000mi on the 2012. Original drivetrain on all of them when sold, sold all three to local guys and they were happy to buy a manual.

It takes a little longer time to sell a MT, but sooner or later some guy that wants a manual will meet your price.

My last car was an Audi A4 with a 6spd manual. With the Taco I have to move through the gears a bit slower and then it's happy. Don't buy a truck and expect it to shift like a car.

I've noticed that if I try to rush it, I get a minor grind. I wouldn't even call it a grind so much as a slight feeling of gears rumbling together.

I had to adjust my shift timing and let the transmission "accept" the next gear without forcing it. Just sorta nudge the shifter and the trans will pull it in, seems to be working fine.

Previous vehicles were a '96 Ranger 4cyl/5spd and a '88 Chrysler Conquest with an extremely short shift pattern, could run 1st thru 5th with just wrist motion.

The higher your RPMs the worse the rev hang is. I shift around 2000 - 2500 and I feel my way to the next gear (just like on a commercial truck) - no grinding and no performance issues. I rev match the Freightliner (rarely use the clutch though), but the Taco doesn't seem to need it.

I've never had a problem shifting the Taco, but I'm not trying to race with it.
