Anyone with Goodyear Duratracs start having uncurable vibration problems with half tread remaining?

I have Goodyear Duratracs with 40k miles on them and like 40% tread life left.

Discount Tire tried road forcing and that got rid of the steering wheel shake but the vibration all over the truck (seats, floor boards, etc....) still remain.

I was next to tech as he was balancing the tires. When the road force roller went down on the tire, the whole machine started shaking. Probably the same thing happening when my tires are on the road.

Every time he did a road force balance, the road force and weights needed on the rim would change. The road force balancer told him to rotate the tire on the rim at specified points for the lowest road force. After he did that and put it back on the road force machine it gave him high road force measurements again and told him to rotate the tire at another point. He did this like 4 times one 1 tire and with very different readings. Very inconsistent which makes it very hard to balance.

I'm thinking I have to buy new tires but it's a shame because there is still a lot of tread life left.

There is some cupping on the inside edge. I supposed this could be causing the vibration as well.

The first 50% of the tread on any tire is the best part anyhow. I always toss or sell my truck and Jeep tires around 50% wear.

How often were they rotated during those 40k miles? It’s time for new tires for me and I’m going back and forth between these and KO2’s.

They’re a lost cause. The last half of the life of duratracs is useless. Wet traction will be horrible and there is no balance cure. I got rid of mine with plenty of tread left.

This. Great tire for the first 15-20K miles but after that they are extremely noisy and horrible in wet conditions.

Anyone know if the KO2s have any issues after the treads get a little worn like this? I'll probably be ordering tires in the next week or so and was leaning towards the duratracs.

I've heard the same thing from others about KO2's from others, this is the first I'm hearing about the duratracs though.

Exact same experience we had with them. Too bad because they are a great tire when new, but after 15-20K I had to sell them.

Yikes, I'm on my second set and I've not had any horrible vibrations (even on my first set when they were close to being shot). I did get a minor vibration on the highway at just the right speed.

Yeah, they were fine in the beginning, just terrible in the end. I would say they would be good as a dedicated snow tire.

I had the same experience. I didn't get near 40k miles before mine did. It was closer to 16k miles for me.

Loved them at first. That's when you'll see most people commenting on them. Terrible tire for me.

I'm in the same boat with my general grabbers, 54k miles on them and still lots of tread but they vibrate terribly
