    like nofords08 said up-travel is always better. The Fox shocks typically run a little smaller. My 10" Fox runs about 9.5" of travel. So, a 10" in another manufacturer might be 10" or 10.25" on a 10" shock. You just have to check the specs. I do agree that I could run a 1" with my current shocks but I would destroy them if I did some real offroading. If your truck is mostly street you can get away with the 10" shock and a block. My 5100's (about 8.5") were too short with the new springs.

    Up travel's important but down travel allows the wheels to stay on the ground.
