Can I come by and throw you a little cash or a sandwich or a six pack? I don't have the hardware to do it and I don't really feel like getting into it with a dealer mechanic about liability.

On a similar note, any idea if the door open chime can be disabled? A search on this forum suggests no, but maybe someones figured it out.

Nah. I regularly drive with it my belt on. Not trying to substitute it with something else.

But sometimes going between campsites or whatever... some kind of short casual driving... I want the option of not buckling up without the truck yelling at me.

That's the main reason I printed mine. This way there is no liability on anyone else if something were to happen. I just keep it where the wireless charger is or keep it in the passenger buckle since I commonly carry stuff in the seat and it sets off the occupant sensor. Printed in black ABS...can barely see it.

Surely somebody in your area can help you out. The best thing I ever did was disable that chime...I just wish you could disable the dash light too. The door chime does not have an option in the software to disable it.

Honestly there’s a dozen lights and buzzers and features I want to disable.
I like comfort and reliability. And size. But I don’t love all the technology. Complicated relationship. My other truck is a ‘92 and I wish I could pick and choose a fusion between these two.

anything else you disabled and are happy with that I’m not aware of?

Inside the seatbelt receiver there is a little plastic slider that activates to indicate if the seatbelt is fastened. There is a tiny spring that moves the plastic slider when you remove the seatbelt clip. Remove that spring and the seat belt will appear to be secure all the time. Fairly easy to do.
Why not just put your seatbelt on??

On my 06' Tacoma I removed the actual buzzer that chimes when the door is open. It was located in the dash cluster. Not sure if it's the same location on the 3rd gen.

Yup! Contact Kris. He should be able to disable it with Techstream.

Not all the time. I had mine disabled mainly due to my passenger seat chirping at me whenever I put heavy things on it or my dog in that seat. Simply saying, 'wear it!' is not always the answer. I found a dealership that was willing to turn mine off.

For me, it's not about wearing the seatbelt. I wear my seatbelt 24/7. The only time I don't is when I am leaning out the windows checking clearance while offroading etc. My dog rides upfront with me a lot. I fill the front seat with stuff as well so it will be beeping if not disabled.

If it's worth $30 to you - Carista OBD2 adapter comes with a 1 month trial subscription which lets you disable the continued seat belt chime. That's how I did it.
The seat belt warning will still flash and it will chime a few times before stopping.
Make sure you cancel before the month is up and check if this still works the way I described. It's been 2 years for me...

I wore seat belts before they were even installed in Cars! But there are times I would love to jam a Screwdriver in that Buzzer! Like driving down my Driveway to put Mail in the Box! Driving up my Driveway after getting it to!! Just don't need a Buzzer to Nanny Me on my Belt. Door Agar that is different.

I like the chime. It is a race to see if I cane make it out of my neighborhood before the chime stops. So far I have just made it to the stop sign. Never onto the main road.
