Lol Jeeps can do 37's but the rest of their drivetrain can't keep up. After that, 40's are perfect but require a ton of mods for Jeep or Tacoma.

    Whoa, 40's!
I'm still trying to figure out what suspension I'm upgrading to in a 2-3 years once my Fox's on the Pro go out at 50/60k

Same spot twice on my second gen. First time the metal yoke that wraps around the bed there that cracked was replaced on warranty. Second time I removed it and had a strap welded to the back side. Never a issue after that.

You can see the radius cutout to relieve stress in that spot. Toyota knows it is a weak point.

Third gen I added need stiffeners within a month of buying it

Torque is when it is so stiff, you push down on it and your heels lift.

And watch the forum classifieds. I just purchased a set of Caliraised for $50 plus shipping. Installed them last Friday night. I didn't trim my bed mat. It doesn't bother me that it sits up slightly since I'm up front driving rather than sitting in the bed.

This was enough to trigger low oil light with oil measuring 3 mm below full line at level. These trucks are not designed for true off road (4+ trails).

I installed bed stiffeners very soon after buying the truck. No problems showing up yet, six years later, but I didn't expect any either as I have a Softopper and not a hardshell top or RTB.

I'm just posting to also recommend the FRONT bed stiffeners as well.
Not needed by any means, as the front wall does 95% of the bracing there. But I have to believe that if I can restrict the sidewalls from flexing towards the rear at all, then I'm helping gain that last wee 5%.

Besides, they make great anchor points (tiedowns).

I have the total chaos ones on mine, when I bought my truck it came with a camper shell on it and I already noticed a gap when the tailgate was closed between the tailgate and the sides of the bed

got my truck repainted so when the cap was off I used that opportunity to install my bed stiffeners anyway soon as I did that the gap disappeared so yes stiffeners really do work

While I agree, 2-3 rated trails are basically a driveway. Ratings vary based on organization defining the rating however I took my stock Tacoma reliably on 5-6 rated trails. Once it was built it could reliably run trails up to 8 and some 9.

I don’t even park mine in my driveway due to this fear. I guess I’ll just trade it in for any other midsize truck that was truly built to off-road in Utah.

I have ATH front corner brackets and they are excellent tie-down points.

These trucks are not without issue but definitely some fearmongering in this thread.
