I chopped mine off just after the rear axle, primarily for clearance. Truck got quieter after I did because I had the TRD exhaust tailpipe on it before, actually made it pretty loud (would set off sensitive car alarms in the neighborhood sometimes). Kinda miss the sound but I like not smashing the exhaust on rocks even more.

I use my loud exhaust as an excuse for people to recognize me. Ever since I started driving the 5 lug for some reason people cut me off, try to swerve in front of me, or just don't notice me. (granted CA peeps in Az and snowbirds prolly account for half of said instance)

Now I just drive with my led fog lights on to blind the sad fool who cuts me off, and dump gears when people try anything.

sometimes being a "silent" asshole is the best way to control road rage. I wont chase u down or honk at u, but you'll know haha
in fact, most of the time people do things like yell at me or flip me off I usually laugh. Doubt having leds in your eyes will make you laugh tho, or dumping a gear and engine breaking on u ya know lol

If you put a snorkel on and think that's what will get you through a deep water crossing, you're, in a word: wrong.

It can help, provided you waterproof the rest of your truck's electrical system, diff breathers, and all that stuff. But a snorkel doesn't make your truck a submarine.

Damn I woulda never thought that.

Edit: sorry OP I can’t help it.
Had to scroll through a year or two or pictures to find my snorkel install. And there you have it. The hose section after the air filter leading to the throttle body. This was before snorkel. So y’all can theoritisize all day behind the computer on when a snorkel is appropriate but there you have it. I’m not up to the hood but on the verge of sucking in muddy water.

Twice as clean air, now that makes the most sense.

All these snorkel pictures and I thought they were for water. I’ve been so wrong, they are to get the clean air above the dirty air.

Grandpa always said “clean air rises”. I always thought he was drunk, derned if he wasn’t spittin the truth.

I don't think anyone said they don't help with water crossings. Obviously they do. But if ALL you do is install a snorkel, that's not enough to effectively cross deep water.

The Aussies, who almost ALL have snorkels, do most of their driving in dusty convoys, with very few water crossings.

Honestly, though, probably 80-90% of people with snorkels don't use them for dust OR water, but for the #gram.
