If you get a remanned with a lifetime warranty I’d say that’s the way to go since it’s about 1/3 the price of an oem one.

Is your truck making a high pitched cry whenever you step on the brake pedal? Mines does it all the time, and I'm pretty sure it's the brake booster

so I changed out the new booster and now have a vacuum leak I almost certain is coming from that paper gasket. Only thing is, its a brand new gasket. Going to take the mc off again and see if it happened to tear while installing it. Its only a couple bucks but, son of a bitch.

Why not upgrade to a dual diaphragm booster and 1 inch master cylinder?

Both systems work just as well with oem calipers. In fact the 01-04 single diaphragm booster and 13/16 master cylinder works better with the Tundra brake upgrade.

I know if you’re going sas you may be into other mc / booster setups so this is just for systems using stock rear brakes and Tundra or regular fronts. Using bigger brakes front and rear may benefit from larger mc’s and dual boosters.

    http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/4runner/brakes/

You had a paper gasket on your 01-04 single diaphragm booster? Does your truck have ABS? I just took apart a 01-04 truck’s brake pedal / booster / mc with ABS and the seal is created between the tube that comes out of the mc and the circular rubber gasket that seals against it inside of the mc. You’d only need one of you didn’t have ABS from the systems I’ve seen (my truck game stock with the dual diaphragm / 1” mc and the donor truck I took the single diaphragm / 13/16 booster out of was bone stock and didn’t have a paper gasket as the mc design changed for that system). How many bolts hold your mc onto the booster?

From my searching for manual trans brake pedal for a single diaphragm booster / 13/16 mc I found:

    Dual / 1”: 96-00 all trucks, 01-04 non-ABS trucks

    Single / 13/16”: 01-04 ABS trucks

I think I know what rubber seal your talking about. The rubber one that's installed into the booster where the mc seats?

Just as an FYI to anyone who finds this thread. I bought a remanufactured brake booster from O’Reillys and I was missing the paper gasket between the master cylinder and brake booster. Toyota PN 47275-12020
    IMG_0607.jpg

I also replaced 2 black gaskets that are separated by a metal block. It’ll make more sense once you take it apart. Toyota PN 44785-0C020.
    IMG_0606.jpg

I was noticing that I could brake, but man I had to push a bit harder than necessary to get the brakes to engage which suggested a vacuum leak in my mind. Took it all apart and added the 3 gaskets and it’s back to normal.

That gasket doesn’t hold air pressure - it’s only to keep debris out of the mc / booster connection.
