not yet, I do have a couple large DC rectifiers though for that purpose. One of them needs a new fuse holder and checked out, the other is really freaking heavy and hard to move around, that was originally picked up as salvage from work. that one is most likely going to get a pulse circuit added so it can used for an EDM power supply as one of my someday projects.

Right now I powder coat small parts that fit in the little toaster oven setup I have, until I break down an build a bigger oven.

came across a heavy wall aluminum disposable water bottle while out walking. Which turned out to perfect for an idea I had in mind. I originally made one out of an aluminum Beer bottle but it ended up getting crushed by accident.

    20221226_203804.jpg

My Soon to be spill proof cutting oil can. I cut the bottom off right below the water drop, which seemed to be about perfect for the acid brushes I have.

    20221226_204429.jpg

    The top was cut off.

    20221226_205331.jpg
The top was inverted and pressed into the bottom, and the edges smoothed out with a 3m wheel.

    20221226_205326.jpg

I like this much better than the original one I made, it is feels much heavier and will hoed a bit more cutting fluid than the last one.

My dad is visiting and I wanted to show him the mill in action... Went through setting up a part... got 4 ops in and pulled the 'ol "forgot to set the offsets on the tap" maneuver. Wha-BANG!

Ah the worst one. Been there done that, ripped the override knobs off a machine once because i forgot they don't work on a tapping cycle. I single block tapping cycles with my hand on the e-stop now

Lol - my reflexes wouldn't have stopped that one. Single block would be smart. I just never do it. Lol.

I'm off to try to bang out some more of this now one-million % over-thought lathe dro mount.

Almost there!!! One more part to modify and I will have a dro on my lathe. Made these parts
    upload_2022-12-28_19-5-10.jpg
that assemble in to this little sculpture
    upload_2022-12-28_19-5-28.jpg
that go on the back of the lathe like so
    upload_2022-12-28_19-6-9.jpg
this is just a test fit. I’ve got to drill mounting holes in the cross-slide scale’s mounting spar and then paint.

I already have an accu-rite on the mill so got a second one. Actually, I'm stealing the mill's head unit and upgrading the mill to 3 axes.

Well... It works! I have a little more tidying up to do, but both slides are mounted dead on and I got the head unit reconfigured. Interesting to note the cross slide's dial is off according to the digital scales by about .001/1" and the carriage looks to be about .002/1". Interesting. I might have to get the gage blocks out and really chase my tail. LOL.

I think 3rd spindle in this machine now?
Hard to be mad though, its a 12k spindle running lots of aluminum so pretty much always maxed out.

currently doing lots of surfacing so at max speed for a solid 30 min…

Had some fun making more parts for the manual mill... more DRO mounting hardware:

Machining these last couple projects in steel has been fun but I'm going to fry my compressors!

Hey fellas got a question I think would fit in here (opposed to the 4000 page BS thread :D)

Made some simple aluminum spacers on my Dads lathe last year. Specifically designed to space MaxTrax mounting pins off the side of UpTop bed racks. The factory UpTop bracket is poorly designed and does not have any offset, so the cleats of the traction boards actually rub on the side of the rack in places. These are the second set I made. First set (and my first real experience on a lathe) was for myself. These ones were for a buddy but he hasn't made time to come get them - they've been sitting in my kitchen for almost 6 months now haha

My question: think I could sell them for anything? Obviously I dont expect to make anything on my time into these. Only my second or third time on a lathe so I think these took me a few hours to make (but dimensions within 0.001" from part to part so Im stoked with that).

Essentially just tired of them taking up space. Figured I would post them up in the BST section at $20 plus the cost of a flat rate box and see if anyone wants them, otherwise they'll end up in the scrap bin :notsure:

Try and find out!!! You can always give ‘em away later if $20 is too steep.

Lathe work is fun. I will be making some robot parts this weekend on mine, I hope…

Can you turn that coffee mug 20* and snap another pic :D -- I think I need one of those that covers 2020 through 2022. What is the width and OD/ID of the spacers?

Been having a total blast with the high school robotics team. They are making some cool stuff! Needed a part "lightened" so we made a program and threw this on the mill. My first time cutting thin box. I need a 'reached' cutter! I also punched in the tryout code for HSM. I don't the machine ran that much faster, but it was a lot smoother. Part went from 16oz to 5. ;)

Good stuff OP! Modest tools on my end, but they get the job done. I was able to save the Logan from being scrapped. Built right after WWll ended.

Self taught here and enjoy spending time behind the handles.
