checked out his site. I have ordered from him before he had the website store.

@Matt123 His website store wanted to charge $50 international shipping to send a cooling panel. and that is in $US. Not impressed at all. I highly doubt he is going to go to Point Roberts to ship a package back into Canada.

Finally got an email from him. $100 USD plus $20 USD shipping for a tow hook that he's giving away ($165 CAD  ). Arrogant pr*ck, I was so pissed that I answered back that the price was insane and that I'll have my local fab shop bang me one out for less than half that. I also told him that I might start fabricating grilles too, but that wouldn't be cool.

Yah I remember I got that too when I tried to order a tow hook from him. I said fuck it he's not getting my money, and then a guy from Texas sent me a TRD Tow Hook for free.

He answered me back and said he was sorry that I didn't like the pricing, but his website is set up in USD. He did offer a coupon code for 20%. o_OThat means we're still being charged 10 to 15% more. WTF? Oh, well.

... and I had already bought a TRD tow hook from a guy in the states some time ago, you lucky bast*rd. ;)

I've never seen those. They must be good... Belgian chocolate! Are they like a truffle?

All marketing choices @Matt123 has made to optimize for the US market (10X larger), even so far as to appear to be US based.

It is common to standardize on one currency for on-line store, but the shipping and preferential treatment towards US customers at the expense of 'hometown' buyers is something I can't support. You folks are letting him know what you think of the marketing choices he's made by choosing to NOT purchase his products, and even open an opportunity for another fabricator to capitalize on an ignored market. The business model choices he's making are influenced by a lack of competition in the home grown field.

It is somewhat deceptive, but I do not think that he cares. US market = 10 X

The shipping part is definitely not cool, but maybe shipping from the states excludes him from some taxes ????

The market is not completely ignored, but is it worth large scale investment here? No.

Don't fuck around. Buy these! Nothing like a truffle though.

I think we can all agree we won't be buying from Matt, unless I find a used piece for a cheaper price from a different member.

My wife ran a chocolate shop for years. She still makes truffles at Christmas using Callebaut Belgian chocolate. Champagne, Grand Marinier, Irish Cream, Raspberry liquor, and more, so I'll ask her to make a hazelnut cream liquor.

I'd buy some since I love homemade truffles, as long as your don't charge USD and ship out of the states.

FWIW I sent @Matt123 an email a couple days ago about his current promo for the skid & tow hook asked if local pickup is an option since the shipping is getting calculated to nearly $100 (CAD) for within BC which of course is insanity. His shipping is listed as less to send way out east in the US. I'd like to buy but on the principle of feeling burned would not unless he is able to offer a realistic shipping cost or pickup option.

I think of one you guys said you had emailed and he did eventually reply back about a week later so I guess I'll just wait and see.
