I don't know if there's a benefit to trussing the top vs the back but this company offers one and it's only like $100, if you're in the market.

Nor do I. I based my decision off other's experience and product availability. I do like the idea of having some additional protection for the axle tubes but I don't plan on reversing into object hard enough for that to be an issue. lol

I'd imagine that a top truss would be more appropriate if you were trying to do a link setup but someone more experienced would have to confirm.

Finished up this workbench for my garage. Made it using scrap and an old butcher block top I had. I wanted to try something different so I fit everything tight like I normally would, but I didn’t do any sanding or prep to the weld surfaces prior to welding. Wanted to see how much it would affect the end result. Prepped surfaces definetly weld better, but it’s not a huge difference, but I’ll stick to prepping everything. I left it raw for now, gonna use it a few months so I can decide what else to add to it. Then I’ll get it powdercoated

    Recommendations needed.

I am building a fence on the side of my house.
4 sections 6ft apart. Slanted, loosing 6in each section. 5 posts total in at least 2ft of concrete. The ground in my house is hard a f@ack, no need to go full 3ft.
First section 6ft tall, last section 4½ft tall.
I would build a rail so the planks just drop down, then build a cap rail for the top.

    1. Thinking of using 3X3X.120 square tube for posts
    2. I will be using planks/pickets, however I'm looking into composite as opposed to cedar or redwood.

    Opinions on post specs?

This is what I have in mind.

If anyone cares, prices going up soon, not sure if it will be the same with other competitors, but anyone looking to buy a new machine, may be a good time before the end of the month.

anyone have suggestions for welding a step to sliders? i have bamf sliders and was thinking 1/8th" thick drop downs and then a simple angle iron between the two legs with maybe some expanded metal on top

any suggestions on where to locate fore/aft on the slider would be great as well

fiance is driving the truck and we have a newborn. truck isnt being offroaded anymore anyways

Excuse my crude drawings on my phone

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a bolt on step someone sells.
Edit: Probably the wrong size tube but same idea

Not a bad idea. I was thinking the angle of the slider might make it awkward since they would be angled instead of straight to the door.

Those are pricy too. Lol. I was thinking less $50 i could build some easily. But ill look more into bolt-ons.

Some tube clamps could be welded to so they still bolt-on?

    I always support DIY
I also support the bolt on idea.
This will make it more expensive, but ideal I would think.
