Are you building this from a kit or a design? Or just DIY as you go?

I was not able to get the frame tacked up for the belt grinder. However, I did finish the belt tracking assembly.

Took a bit longer than expected since there was an opening in the upright tube where the head of the bolt has to go into and since the tracking system has a bit of an arc the opening was.more than a simple round hole. But more an oval...

Well, my table on the canopy ceiling didn't work out, too heavy. But I have another idea, so I mounted my fold down "shelf" and am still going to use it for a table, just not a steel one

Have you (or anyone here) tried the aluminum brazing rods available at HD/Lowe’s? You can braze aluminum together with MAPP gas and the joint is actually pretty strong although not what I’d consider structural. I’ve seen a few videos that makes me think it’s a good alternative for making smaller projects out of aluminum. Might fit the bill for your table setup without having to spring for a spool gun setup.

This guy does a pretty good review/comparison:

Interesting, I didnt even think about brazing, not sure if I'll go that route. There's a Central Welding right down the road, I'm gonna have to go look how much a spool gun and tank or argon is gonna run me

Braising is actually pretty strong, a lot of the classic road bikes from the 60s were braised. I watched my uncle braise a highway bar on an old Honda cb350 and it held up to a crash. The steel bent before the braise broke. Not a bad option at all. If you can master that, TIG welding is just a pedal away.

Welded my first thing upside down today. One of my frame weld nuts decided it wasn't going to hold threads anymore, so I drilled it out and welded in an m8 flange nut

Ear protection is a must for welding upside down. You get a glowing BB in your ear and it could pierce your eardrum. Even little foamy ear plugs are enough to keep your ear holes safe.

We’ve all been there where “it’ll just be quick” so we don’t gear up. I’m no different. All it takes is that one time…

Here is another good video on brazing. This channel also has a bunch of awesome offroad fab related content if anyone is interested.

    right away I picture this:

    image.jpg

The tough part is getting the distance between the inner support tube and outer slider rail and the angle of the drop. It would probably end up being 70* to account for the 20* sliders so that the drop would be vertical.

Make two of those with small tabs to attach the plywood and you’re good to go.

I'm definitely considering it, but at the same time having a spool gun would open up a whole other realm of possibilities of projects. It's just money right?

Hated the other plane of bend bracket I made so I just whipped up another one that works a lot better. I bend 1.75” 99% of the time so I made the hole to fit that size tubing.

The best part is that I made it look like an old school IPod without realizing it until after I cut out the parts
