That technique works especially well for lap joints but can be adjusted for T joints.

Can anybody recommend a good set of safety goggles for grinding? I'm getting ready to do my rear shock relocation next weekend and wanted to get a decent set in preparation for all the grinding I'll be doing under the truck.

I've had too much stuff get around glasses grinding (especially when out of position) and my cheapo goggles are scratched to shit and fog up almost instantly.

    I have some like these:

DEWALT DPG82-11C Concealer Clear Anti-Fog Dual Mold Safety Goggle, Clear Lens, 1 Pair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A12J3GI

good seal around your eyes and anti fog. they also fit around glasses if you wear them (although that defeats the anti fog since your glasses would likely fog up in the goggles). I like them a lot. I would recommend a full face shield though. Just to keep stuff away from your nose and mouth. Unless you plan on wearing a respirator then just get the goggles.

I have these as well, they're nice. I wear them underneath a face shield, as well as a welders beanie and ear pro, whenever doing a shock relo. You'll be eating a lot of sparks.

Yup I have these and they’re comfortable and work great. Fully sealed 100% eye protection for sure. Y’all should be wearing a mask or respirator when grinding or welding also but I know that’s a pain to do

Thanks guys! I'll check those ones out! I trust the opinions on here WAY more than scrolling through abunch of Amazon reviews.

I accidentally did that the other day. Took my glasses off to take some measurements and then started grinding again. Took me a minute to be like wait WTF something isn't right.

tbh you'll probably get a better reply fron @WarFab Armor in his thread since he'll know how it's designed to go together.

Am I the only one who can't get those to sit right? I preferred normal safety glasses with a face shield because i had those goggle leave a gap at the bridge of my nose when I wore them alone and got a metal chunk dangerously close to my eyeball. I found I could get rid of said gap if I strap them REAAAAAAL tight but then the pain of them on my face would distract me.

might be easier to slide in, measure, remove, cut on chop saw, then insert and weld rather than trimming after welding

I can't say I've had that issue before. I agree that being super tight isn't acceptable. I would probably wear those glasses with foam if I couldn't wear goggles.

Tried those goggles and sweat and fog ruins them for me. Plus if they get metal in them it’s impossible to get out. I just wear safety glasses and ear muffs. Everything else drives me insane.

you are self taught? those are looking great! Be proud. I've seen rigs on the trail held together by much, much, much worse.

I don't know shit compared to the pros in here. I set it more towards 3/16 settings, focus your puddle on the thicker material, then drag it to the thinner, go back and focus on the thicker, etc. You'll get it dialed in from there

For safety "goggles" I just use cheap harbor freight safety glasses, but I've seen someone use motocross goggles which would probably hold up better and not fog nearly as much since they are made for being hot in. I always wear a shield and glasses when wire wheeling - those things are like lasers when they come off the wheel.

I wear contacts and it's crazy how sparks embed themselves in them even when I'm wearing safety glasses - after a big project they'll have 2-3 specs of metal stuck in them (I believe it's metal since it looks rust colored).
