yeah, the customized grips and accessories have taken off over the last 10 years ... I have been in or around the welding field for not quite 20 and a lot has changed even in that time.

They are, without a doubt, a complete and utter waste of money, but still fun and I am a sucker for colors. Black and grey is boring as hell. :bananadance:

There are some out there that serve a purpose beside just looking good. I used to have a large diameter torch grip on my field rig, it actually made long days on pipe much easier on my grip / hands / forearm as the larger diameter helped with feel, and I found myself not gripping the torch as tight on cap passes. It was turned out of wood and epoxy and about 1-1/4" OD. I really liked it unless it got wet / sweat gloves, then it was slicker than greased owl shit.

But the ones at home in the picture above are strictly for the hell of it.

Finally mounted my vice to my welding table after about 3 years of using clamps to hold it down any time I used it lol.

You have Blue eyes correct ?

I only ever suffered from Arc flash one time long ago. Several eye Doctors agreed Blue eyes are more prone to Arc Flash.

Anybody using Harbor Freight MIG wire? .030 steel 2lb is about $9.00. Amazon, HD want $14-$20 for a name brand roll. Any other suggestions?

I really like Weldcote wire for MIG.

Bluedemon for electrodes (if you do SMAW as well).

I've never paid attention to brands of MIG wire. It seems they all perform a bit different. I can always adjust my settings or style where I have no issue with the solid wire MIG I'm using.

Just keep an open mind and play with your settings.

Yup. T650D buckets were around 75000 new. Re-line with ar500, new GET from sandvik, and a line bore ran, at the time, from 10 to 30k depending on the condition of the bucket. Most of them averaged out to around 18,000 in the early 2000s.

When the customers agrees to my rebuild schedule, we stayed around 12000 ever 8-9 months ... or they could run their crap into the ground to get a little extra production and hit 30k after about 12 months. Some people are just too dumb to understand the benefit of maintenance over repair.

As some of you know, I've been stupid happy with the Prime Weld 225X TIG welder at school for steel, stainless, and aluminum.

Liked it so much I bought one for home-use.

Been on the fence on a MIG welder and finally pulled the trigger (pun intended) on a Prime Weld MIG180.

I'll post about it if anyone's been taking a look at a $500 MIG welder.

I will be interested. My old Hobart 150 is bound to give out eventually, and since I have the PW 225 and Cut 60 plasma, I might as well go for the trifecta!
