I wanted a small shelf due to limited real estate.

But really, this sits lower than most carts I've seen which is why I wanted to make one.

    Someone asked if "it's strong?"

    I said "strong enough"

    20220609_090917.jpg

Little more of an angle on it than I wanted, but that can be remedied by removing the front wheels and lifting them a bit. That or cutting them off and putting matching fronts.

Least I have a nice base and plate to secure a bottle on.

    Anyway, it's done.

    Necro thread revival

Received my stubby gas lens kit from Weldmonger today. As a Father's Day sale, they are adding a #8 Furic clear cup to the stubby kit.

One should never go cheap on casters!

They forever get full of dirt and grit in a welding area time spent at the kitchen table cleaning them may upset other family members.

The kitchen table does make a good spot for those quick welding jobs just try not to set the table on fire to often.

A dark table cloth hides burn marks very well.

How come you won't be using it? Thanks for the offer, but maybe keep it for the next guy looking to upgrade.

I mainly wanted to try a clear cup, and since I needed the adapter for the Furic, the purchase kind of snowballed on me. Jody's videos really show the difference in both visibility and gas coverage. I am not very good at TIG yet and any advantage will help.

I'm like most here in that MIG is my go to. But, I don't have a spool gun, so until (whoops "if") I get a Primeweld 180 I do TIG a few things.

Teach yourself How to use a thumb control you will be miles ahead with Tig welding .

I use one in stick welding if I am in one of those positions hard to get in and out of and alone.

I need to get a thumb control. I am still foot pedal only. And it's a bit of a stiff pedal at that.

After a lot of back and forth, I've decided (and ordered) the Prime Weld CUT60 plasma cutter.

Last thing I'll need to get now is an air compressor with at least 5CFM @80psi.

    No kidding!

    Good air volume is essential!

I don't think you will be happy with 5 cfm. If a plasma table is in your future, you may want to up your requirements.

I have an 80 gallon, 14 cfm unit and it is pretty maxed out for my needs.

It is a single stage, 3 cylinder unit, but once you go to 2 stage, you bump the price up 2x.

I do admit 2 stage with a 1700 rpm motor is the best of the best. They are so quit compared to the 3400 rpm units that are what we have to settle for.

Lol no bead blasting, but yes I do want a quality setup.

Can't be larger than a 20 gallon either due to space limitations.

Won't be using air tools either.

If you got say a 60 gallon, could you separate the tank and pump/motor, and mount the tank up high out of the way? Maybe horizontal along where the wall and ceiling meet? Or just get a horizontal 60 and raise the whole unit up, say above a workbench area or something? Hell, put it in the attic!

Some manufacturer needs to develop a line of compressors with space saving tank shapes in mind. At least offer rectangular. I know cylinder volume vs rectangle, but being round they definitely eat space whether they are horizontal or vert. You lose space beside them too.

Better yet, put it outside in a dog house and plumb the air inside.
