Probably after the show ends in like February or March is when it’d be available

Best part about it is that it’ll be a barely used pretty much brand new winch!

That's perfect! I won't need it anytime soon anyway.

Are the lights that heavy or were the winches bought for another project ?

The lights aren’t that heavy. The winches are ridiculous amounts of overkill but I think my boss had the show order them with other things in mind haha ;)

I’ll be sure to post a picture when the lights are rigged and the winch is actually attached to the frame and functioning

Made a quick attach pallet fork for my tractor. It turned out okay. No show welds, but they'll hold. My stick welding is not as good as Mig, but decided that was best way to go in this 3/8" stuff. Mig tacks, then 7018 rods.20220713_140516.jpg

    20220713_184751.jpg

You tilt to adjust the distance between the forks.

    20220713_184826.jpg

You have to design in some back tilt when your forks are flat on the ground. This helps when pickup up pallets. You can see I still have an inch of cylinder rotation when my forks are flat on the ground.
    20220713_184857.jpg

Also, if you are making a setup for a tractor with some hours, you need to level the forks and build around that. I mean my loader frame has some twist in it from use/abuse, so if I welded everything on the left side and right side the same, my forks would have been uneven when sitting flat.

:thumbsup::thumbsup: Good job I feel sorry for people that can not do these things.

Did your 7018 come out of the oven? It can be difficult trying to use moisture soaked electrodes.

    @Bivouac

I got an air compressor for my plasma cutter finally.

Actually, I didn't expect it (on top of the fact that he trenched my yard as a kind gesture).

Anyway, it was free! My wife's uncle told me he had an air compressor for some years and he's used it twice, due to the fact that he's got 2 and this 1 is too big to haul around often.

    20220715_104259.jpg

Requirements to cut 7/8" steel are to have 5CFM@80psi. I remember the general rule of having 1.5x the amount of air needed so it's nice to see that I've got a great buffer here.

Especially since the thickest I expect to cut is 3/8" steel.

Just finished cleaning it up a bit.

It's plugged in and tucked away; just need to plumb for air so I can have a drop near my plasma cutter. Don't have any hose or anything to run yet.

    Be patient grasshopper!

This mower deck was bent pretty bad.

    upload_2022-7-15_19-7-43.jpg

Figured it would be easier to cut out the bad section instead of fighting the entire deck.

It was much easier clamping the bent section to the fabrication table. At that point "C" clamping a lever to the bent parts made it easy to straighten out the damage.

I'll have to be happy with those corner welds. No way to get a grinder in there to pretty it up.

Welding on old, painted rusty iron is always gonna make you unhappy with your welds .

Nothing the coats of paint won't cure.

I do not miss Mower decks or garbage truck floors at all.

Is that one of your mower decks used on the boulder field ?

It's good that you are going up and over, then down. Compressors produce lots of water. Fortunately liquid water has trouble being carried up and over to the P. Cutter.

Think about installing a second air hose at the low point of the tank. Put an air nozzle on this hose and blow out the water on a regular basis.

The water really makes you chew through the plasma cutter consumables.

    I guess I don't follow? I know nothing of a boulder field.

Ahh yes I forgot to mention that as I was more descibing it in another thread.

It's cool that there's a separator right near the regulator, but I will add one more at a drop. One of those that has a quick connect/disconnect like we had at work.

I play around with buying used commercial Zero Turn mowers. I fix all the trauma or engine/hydraulic drives issues, then flip them. It keeps me sane and I get to pocket some decent coin.

No, they were a mix of some from the original plastic carton I had, and ones my brother-in-law was going to throw away because they had been in his garage for years.:anonymous:

Thanks for the feedback and I agree. Sometimes I wonder how people who can't do their own vehicle repairs, house upkeep, cut, weld, fix their lawnmowers, ...., how do they afford to live? I think if I paid someone to do all the things I do, I'd be living on the street.
