Its a good little cart. Does the job and keeps things in order. Only one thing... since the top shelf and welder are tipped back, it comes close to the bottle behind it. Other than that you cant go wrong for $40.00

Need some help guys. I was welding up some steel at work today using dual shield and 100% co2 and kept getting these lines in the puddle which sometimes turned into porosity. Any clue on what they are or why they happen? uploadfromtaptalk1390310612001.jpg

I was told it was crap I'm the tank. I would get porosity like that occasionally as well. What is your gas set at?

30 cfm. I was doing some over head also thats why it was that high. But I was looking online and it was saying they are called gas marks from having to much hydrogen in the weld. Im not sure how old this spool is but im in florida and if the spools old enough im sure that its got plenty of moister in it causing the excess hydrogen

Yes, that can cause it as well. Especially in that state.

Could be a few things. As you mentioned, moisture-humidity is a likely cause but condensate in the tank (not likely) or maybe rust on the weld surface, or moisture in the wire (I would think this is unlikely after a few feet of wire feed). High voltage can cause the introduction of nitrogen through the arc too. Or short stick-out.

I would guess that a combination of things are causing your problem. Maybe the weld position and rust on the weld surface.

i cleaned the surface, it was rusty prior to cleaning tough. i dont think it has anything to do with the tank because if i use solid wire it runs fine. I was up at 29v and 400ipm but when i was doing some welding a month or so ago i was getting the same issue and that was on perfectly clean steel and running about 23-24v. granted it wasnt nearly as bad as this time but it was still an issue. and i asked about the wire today and apparently its been around for over a year.

I am doing welding inspection modules too. If you get stuck on something, let me know and i'll try to help you out. Sometimes symbols can be a real pain in the d*ck

WELCOME TO MY LIFE. From the field to behind the computer doing shop drawings, I couldn ask my owner one symbol question as he would fail

Just picked up an extension of 220V 8/3 cord, and planned to hook up to the dryer, but brilliantly did not look at the dryer plug first. It is this one, and says 30A 125/250V:

I have this head on the welder and cord:

Is swapping the heads like this safe? I found many counts of people doing this, like this guy, and my setup is near identical, only drawing less current on the Miller 180, ~21A, and the outlet is rated to 30A.

Shouldn be an issue. Your max draw is lower then the plug.

Thanks, that's what I figured, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. For the two hots does it matter which goes on which side, or are they interchangeable?

I do not believe so, but I am not a licensed electrician. That article you linked says it does not matter either, again I do not know if he is a electrician or not.

Did some more research, and they are both hot at 120V, so they are interchangeable.

cut the bottom of the top tube off, added 3'' strap and cut a piece of 2.5'' sq tube in 1/2 then assembled.
haven't decided on 2 lights or 3 yet, but 3 will be a tight fit w/ the grommets.
