I used it for a hitch mounted flag holder for my FIL some 2 years ago? Now that you say that, I don't remember using primer.

Shit, that means I'll be able to paint it tomorrow night then.

    Thanks!

I think if you read the can it says you can paint right over primer without waiting. Unless you used self etching primer, then you should wait.

Yep, used self-etching since I had hit the surfaces a bit with the flap disc so things got pretty smooth.

Wanting the paint to adhere as best as it can.

Went on a cutting binge this afternoon. I had them already designed in Fusion 360. I love 16 gauge for signs:

Got this one painted. My sister has a miniature pony named "Weeder". She says it's only job is to eat weeds.

Hope @Kwikvette isn't triggered by the Army logo (for my nephew and wife). He's liable to wake up surrounded by empty crayon boxes! :stirthepot:

@koditten I got that eagle's head squared away.
    20230212_161623.jpg

The "Mitchell Trucki..." will be the bottom half and have a triaxle truck above it. Gotta get a little more time in on the truck.

I'm happy with all of them. One mistake was Patriots sign outer circle cut was inside instead of outside. $hit happens!

    16 gauge, 30 amps, 40 amp tip, 3200mm(126in)/min, 65psi, .9 kerf width, 1.2mm(0.05") cut height, 1.4mm pierce, .5mm lead-in, 60degree angle

Man, I really need to buy some 16 gauge steel now.

The fortunate thing is, I pay for 16 and receive either 10 or 12.

The unfortunate thing is, I need 16 now and wish I had passed on the 'upgrade'

    @Wsidr1
    @koditten

Question though I'll try to summarize my experience today.

Tried cutting 1/4". Keep in mind I've successfully cut 8 gauge, 10 gauge, 12 gauge, and 3/16" before already.

Had an issue where it couldn't cut my holes out or the entire thing. Facebook group quickly found out my issue as I was using the same 0.6 second pierce delay I've used on all other thicknesses. Changed it to 1.5 second pierce delay, 45 amps, and successfully cut these out -

    20230213_162246.jpg

Being done with 1/4", I loaded up 3/16" steel to proceed and cut some brackets I've already cut before. Meaning I had NC file already made because again, I've cut them in the past.

First piece is a success, and cuts like normal -

    20230213_162529.jpg

Yet the next 3-4 pieces didn't get cut all the way through. They failed in the same way the 1/4" pieces failed to cut.

Ground is always placed on the work piece (so ground was never an issue on either metal) and I started the day with a new consumable.

Is this the result of consumable life drastically being used up due to the pierce delay used for 1/4"? It's my only theory as I've cut these pieces out before in the past.

    Defiantly.

The slagg/dross is blowing directly back at your tip. It's shortening the life dramatically.

I've been wanting to program mine to do the wiggle pierce lead in when I get home.

This vid shows what I mean. I hope I can program mine to do this.https://youtu.be/1twhyl43gas

    Nice!

I may not ask a lot of questions, but I'm very observant about everything I cut and that video basically told me I was right about my assumption.

Well I won't cut 1/4" much if at all really. This is just for a customer order on some mounts.

    Anything vehicle related is 3/16".

Misc personal stuff varies depending what I've got on hand which speaking of...I need to find out what I'll use my 10 gauge for

Got two 4' x 4' sheets untouched as I've been using the 12 gauge.

Just ended up ordering the WEN 4214T from Home Depot so in a few days we should have a drill press in hand! Have a particular project now that it would be nice to use so I’m excited to get started. Where did you buy the adjustable chuck?

I've never even thought about a surface being too smooth for paint. TIL. Might be why my paint on my bumper is coming off since I grinded it all smooth on the outside. Left the weld on the inside for strength.

Delivered the clock today and made money on that.

Also delivered these today; had cut the tabs yesterday -

    20230214_175738.jpg

The shop liked them so much that he wants one more set (these are for motor swaps) as well as Dana 80 rear arm mounts.

Already drew the parts up so I'll cut those tomorrow after school.

I cut two more of those US Army signs and these NRA Silhouette targets for a friend who shoots in competitions.

He brought me an old rusty piece of plat that was about 3/8". I cut it at 50 amps, 40ipm, 70psi. Main thing was pierce delay time. I programmed at 0.9 secs but had to increase on the fly after I saw the first piece didn't pierce clean. I bumped it to 1.2 secs and the rest did fine. Needed almost no cleanup. I rarely cut anything this thick, so I was happy to see the good outcome.

FYI, the arc started fine through the rust.
