I'd skip the notcher, IMO. Or at least make it secondary. The contour gauges seem more versatile and more cost effective than a notcher in the long run.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Yeah that might be good for a few notches if he want to start building stuff for other people a notcher is the way to go. Try notching hundreds of notches by hand with the pipe master no thanks.

Speaking of notchers, what kind of life should you expect from the hole saws?

Depends on the notcher. The jmr uses 1.25" shaft on needle bearings, so its rigid and provides long life. Also the holesaw itself. Some are real thin and bend easy. Everyday use I usually get 4 weeks

X2 I have the JD2 beast and i get about 200+ per hole saw at 0 degrees go to 50 degrees and that's another story. I just buy Milwaukee hole saws they last long and are cheap.

Nice job on the sliders man...
Looks like someone ordered some Weldporn stickers for their hood too :D
I've got a bunch around my shop and on both of my hood's. All my expensive stuff around the shop has 'not to be operated by fuckwits' stickers on it. ;)

Here's the link to all the stickers:
    http://weldporn.com/slaps.html
They ship from australia, but run package specials on some stickers every once in a while.

I'm still rocking my old ProTools 105HD bender with air/hydro conversion on it. Looking to upgrade to something a little quicker here very soon; probably a JD2 M54 rotary bender.
For nother, I also use the ProTools Racer HSN but I'll be upgrading that when I get my new bender as well. I want a nother that allows for notching in bends and offset notching easier. I did this roll cage on this 4runner with my tools, but it's a little slow and sometimes takes extra planning to get the notches to work.
