Initially I was just making a set for a friend but with the demand, I'll make a few bucks off each set; they're for 1st Gens.

Shipping is $22 flat rate so that takes up a chunk of the total price.

    :fistbump:

Not making much, but I'll take it!

I personally enjoy the ability to offer stuff that is either out of production or overpriced (for less), all while listening to feedback on how things can be improved or changed to one's liking.

Look into Pirateship.com if you haven't already. Huge savings over normal USPS and UPS prices with no subscriptions or anything required.

I think you mentioned that cause that sounds awfully familiar.

I don't make or sell enough parts here to go through that yet

I guess we'll see how many I make today. I've got two 4' x 4' sheets of 10 gauge and was thinking of making 6 or so sets. Can probably make what, 24-30 sets?

You can save about $3 per large flat rate box and you can direct print your own labels with a standard printer and just drop them off instead of waiting in line. Seriously easy to use, I ship everything through there now. Doesn't matter if you're just shipping one box or a bunch, no minimums or signup fees or anything, just cheaper easier to use labels.

What are you using to nest? (Im not familiar with the software package the langmuire systems come with)

Langmuire does offer an add-on for like $99 for repeatability and all that.

And I believe it allows for indexing, cause I know it's needed for the larger machines such as the Pro and XR.

But since I cut each one individually, I can just rotate as needed and zero my position with the click of a mouse.

Now i understand They have contracts with UPS and the postal service .

The way any business that ships any volume would have.

So...by using them to ship, you're really using their contract?

Might cost them $10 to ship, but charge us $18 for something that normally costs $22?

They make $8 per while we save $4 per.

Using USPS large flat rate box as an example of course.

I use Fusion 360 to make a bunch of copies, then I move/rotate the design to fit into the smallest area needed. Basically hand nesting.

The controller software does not do the arranging of the designs.

I wish someone would have dumbed it down for me when I was learning the CNC plasma table game.

Design software and controller software are separate.

Design your part and make copies using your favorite program. The design program will allow you to move and pivot your design to nest any way you like. The cad ( design software) was my biggest challenge...and I'm still learning Fusion 360.

Once you have the number of copies of your part and have arranged them to get the most use out of the sheet of iron, you can tell the the design software to generate the "G" code. There will be choices you need to make-speed of cutter-pierce height-start inside/start outside and some others. You can test run the cut pattern on your computer before you tell the program to " post process".(generate or build the G code)

Now it's time to import that "G" code to the table controller software. The table will now run the cutter in the same fashion that the design software specified.

Writing this was as good for me as I hope for others. It reminded me how much I've learned and need to learn about my own table.

How long ago was it that you got into it?

I only recently learned, but found none of it difficult with the exception of the table needing to be as square-as-fucking-possible :bananadead:

I think it was 5 years ago I saw a vid of a home made table.

I spent 2 years fabbing and building my table. I did the construction piece meal. While waiting on parts, I was learning F360(zero cad experience at that time).

I don't think I really started using my table confidently until the end of '21.

Like you, the hardware part can be frustrating.

Squaring and tramming skills will make your cuts stellar.

Yeah but in your case, the way you went about it, is definitely way harder than the rest of us that just bought a kit.

    Huge props to you.

    I thought that many times.

I'm still proud that I built the controller myself. It gives me peace now that I know how controllers work.

I'm still in awe how much power a stepper can produce on 20 gauge wire and 48 volts DC. My rock and stick mentality can not comprehend.
