I grinded them down after I took this pic. So they are rounded. Might make a cover of some sort

A while back, I fab'd up a couple of brackets for a skid plate. I didn't account for the drop when I built them--it's a small error but one I wanted to fix anyway--I mean why not try again?

I grabbed some 2" stock, measured, cut and welded. I wish I had a punch to make the slots--that was a PITA.

And the weld. I used argon/co2 mix. There was a bit of a breeze--gas probably wasn't the best idea :)

You wouldn't notice them. They mount on a cross member and are somewhat obscured by the skid plate. I'm going to replace them today or tomorrow. I'll see if I can remember to take some pix.

Reading this thread makes me wanna buy a welder.

Question: Do I really NEED a 220V vs 120V. Installing a 220V outlet is really no big deal for me as I have done plenty of home electrical work. But do I really NEED it?

I highly doubt I will be welding anything more than sheet metal and tubing. Just general car type stuff. I will probably also incorporate some metal into the furniture I build.

its like having a V6 compared to a 4 cyl. Do you really NEED it? Probably not, but its good to have the reassurance and if the time comes that you do need it your not out looking for a new one. just my 2 cents

    Here's the bracket installed.

The brackets support the engine skid plate. It's the black one.

I have a Miller 140 Autoset. I really, really wish I'd gotten the 211 which works the same on 110V as the 140 but plug it into 220V, and it's capable of additional thickness. Do I need it? No. But the additional cost would have been worth it for the few times I would want it.

sounds fair to me. However for another $250 you could get it new with warrenty.
