temporary solution.. Once I get the machine going I can cut the same style out of some aluminum plate.

And I was thinking if I crash it the mounts are disposable, an hopefully break before something else.

it's winter for a lot of people! most people living in sub-40 degree weather aren't choosing to weld something unless it broke!

i'm slowly assembling the parts for my possibly-for-profit trailer build. got the tubing to widen the axle, d-rings, front storage compartment, and a tentative facebook agreement to buy a similar non-titled weather-beaten trailer for cheap-ish to use for similar-type metal stock.

still need brake drums, axle straps and spring relocation parts, lights, winch, wheel wells, flooring, wiring, battery, battery box, and some warmer weather! and after all that, comes the fun legalese part of attempting to title the whole thing.

I'm incarcerated in SC until March.

I'm estranged from my shop. About the only tool I can have access to is a pocket knife.

Believe me! I will be "cracking out" on projects when I get back to home base.

    43 seconds.

    40 seconds...

Increase your wire feed speed and voltage, get a smaller diameter tip in the "extended / stick out" flavor that allows the contact tip to extend past the end of nozzle, increase gas flow, and shorten your wire stickout.

This is referred to as a Skewed T Fillet and can be difficult due to larger nozzles creating longer stickout. Overhead (4G / 4G) with GMAW is perfectly acceptable and with proper settings can be run very well, but suffers from too much stickout (CTWD - Contact Tip to Work Distance) worse than other positions at lower amperages due to the increased weight of the droplet pulling the droplet down instead of across the arc.

We prefer flush for most welding, recess for heavy welding, and extended for skewed T or difficult to reach areas.

For example: (Since I dont care to know what machine you are using)

    Miller 250 MDX Recess Nozzle - https://www.millerwelds.com/consuma...rifice-18-tip-recess-copper-1-per-pkg-nm5818c
    Miller 250 MDX Flush Nozzle - https://www.millerwelds.com/consuma...58-orifice-flush-tip-copper-1-per-pkg-nm5800c
    Miller 250 MDX 1/8" Extension Nozzle - https://www.millerwelds.com/consuma...-18-tip-extension-copper-10-per-pkg-nm58xtc10

why are you running ram in single channel instead of dual channel? Are you afraid of system performance?

DDR4 is still plenty enough and fast, so if you've got cash burning a hole in your pocket go for it!

14th Gen performance is way too close to 13th Gen, but a 4080 for sure would be nice!

    Good stuff!

I was literally on my last bead (welded up another set of mounts earlier today) when I ran out of wire already

    20240104_115552.jpg

Fortunately I always have a few extra 11lb spools on stand by but I swear this last 11lb spool lasted me only a few months

Maybe because you're welding a lot more than you used to? Just a thought... :D

I don't even remember using it though

I know what it is, I've been welding a lot more but for customers and less for myself

So when I'm in the garage, I don't see anything "new" so I'm like wtf lol

Think about you and welding You really don`t have all that many months working for someone else.

That is when it gets to be almost a job to just pay bills . The nice thing the hood comes down your almost in your own world.

I need to build a bumper for the 4Runner my hip and knees have been just hurting all the time.

Soon I hope to have some ambition .

Do you need to be rescued??

Is your wife holding you prisoner since you state your incarcerated??

Maybe a leg Iron with enough chain to move slightly.

I would be glad to take you back to your shop.
