Curious if anyone torches with a Arccaptain TIG 200P? I had a need to swap TIG welders in the garage.

I have one arriving today to replace the Everlast 200DV I’m giving to me ‘ol pal Tom aka @805 Tacoma Tuning

 I had to drag you in broville!

a coworker wanted to get into tig welding and started looking seriously into harbor freights versions.

i convinced him to look into primeweld--it was cheaper, and he loved that it was a more mechanical model with real knobs and buttons instead of a computer screen that thinks it knows better. almost one week in, and his order hasn't shipped yet. tariff stuff definitely isn't helping things.

The fact that they include a CK torch is badass, not to mention a no nonsense 3 year warranty.

I do know they carry a ton of stuff in-house.

Buddy actually burned out his board on his MIG180 just yesterday. It's just under the 3 year mark, but he's beaten it to shit and has run it way passed its duty cycle.

Hell, I've run his own welder passed its duty cycle when I welded up that firepit for him.

New board is already on its way to him.

Been there done that with the knobs. Digital is the kind. This welder is pretty bad ass. Just like my MT200, comes with fan on demand. Real good stuff!

Yeah the HF torches suck. The CK torch instantly made my welds better. And alot less hand fatigue

Lovely little TIG machine. Small and compact and packs a very nice and stable arc. Gives the MT200 a run for its dinero!!

Is this old Craftsman stick welder worth selling or should we give it away?

There a way to mod it and make it a stud welder or something?

    That'd be cool.

Did some work on this shitty trailer lol. All the metal under the paint was rusted and it welded like crap. But should bee good enough based on the rest of the build lmao.

if you ever have to do this kind of thing again, run your cutoff wheel down into the joint real quick. it'll get out most of the remaining paint that the wire wheel cant reach. not a big deal on 1/8 wall, but it also helps with penetration on thicker stuff.

delivered the rusted AR-500 rifle table yesterday. the rusty steel went really well with the wood in their zebra chairs and orange in their carpet. really glad the clients pushed me away from my normal style on this one.

It's cool, a craftsman collector would be really happy to have it, but you're not gonna get much for it as a welder. Best bet is to put your efforts into finding a good home for it with someone who'll appreciate it for the branding. You'll probably get more cash volunteered to you for doing that than you would trying to sell it for fair value lol

this is exactly what happens when parts start hanging around for too long. i come up with other idea's. now the trailer project needs a new winch.

ammo can got cut out and welded to the included winch mounting plate, which was then welded to a 2" hitch tube. i still need to add a d-ring to it so it can be a full 'winch-in-a-box' setup that doesn't need a hitch to go to, but as a hitch-mount, the 4500 pound winch will work for now. the idea was that i was going to be able to make the ammo can completely sealed, but then i realized that winches have fairleads that sort of need to be open to allow the cable to extend/retract. so now the ammo can is really just there to hide the control solenoid, keep the cables tidy when not in use, and hold the wireless remote controller.

backstory: i'm hunting for the next project after the trailer project, and need a way to get the right potential option onto the trailer. right now, a 78/79 ford f-150/250 4x4 with the inline 6, 4-speed, and a bench seat seems most appealing--v8's just don't appeal to me. something with a carb that i can play with, old enough to not have a computer-anything, and not historically valuable to the point i can piecemeal it without 'ruining' something... and that journey all started because i want a work beater, but just couldn't bear to pull the trigger on selling my soul to end up with some blandly vague camry/corolla/rav4/crv in some forgot-where-i-parked color.
