I run a 30 amp for my Lincoln 180 mig 220v. It is part of a 60 amp sub box that my 80 gal air compressor and A/C connect to. Never popped anything yet but I have never had everything on at the same time either.

I've not done any welding, but I've done a bit of home wiring in my house and had to study up on it a bit to do it right.

Based on the stats you've given for the welder, your 30 Amp dryer circuit is up to the job. The amperage does not change between the 120 and 240v usage - but because the voltage is doubled, the power, measured in watts, is also doubled. So assuming your dryer wiring is up to code for 30A (10 ga wire IIRC, but I didn't look it up to verify) you're totally good.

Then you just need to make a cord plug adapter or extension cord. Google found me this thread:

    http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?t=38368

EDIT: Basically, you should be able to find all the parts you need at Home Depot. Use 10ga wire.

Thanks Steve i was just reading a thread about setting up for the 211 and a 30 is fine. and I have checked and the dryer circuit is 10ga.

I didnt even read the instructions of my 211 autoset. Just had a guy come over and run the normal 220 I guess.
2 things I don't fuck with. Electricity and high tension springs.

I believe I paid around $830 for the machine. Total cost was like $1200 with a bottle, mask, tip tool and thre cheapo cart.

Maybe cause I told him that I would be back for the workstation the next week.
Loved it, it looked bad ass but I couldnt justify spending that much money on a welding table.
