Put a shackle in it, put it tight to face, then back it out 1/8"-1/4".

Yeah that's what I'm referencing. Total distance face to tip. But it will vary on the recovery point used as the hole may have more or less material around the front compared to mine

I was just over thinking it like most things lol. I just spaces it out about a 1/4" from the shackle itself. It ended up being about 2-1/4".

We use one of those at work, we've cut tons of stainless at this point, holding up pretty well. We use Kool-Mist 77, but again we're cutting stainless.

I use the Hobart 210 hooked to 220. It's pretty badass. And don't be scared to buy it. It's made by miller.

Does that mean I buy miller consumables or does hobart have their own? I haven't looked into yet

Just buy the Hobart ones. And I never buy miller consumable. Always prostar. Hell they even have welding machines out now. I got two of all my tools for when I have my buddy help me and my next machine will be the Hobart ironman 230. My northern tool has it on sale for $1395 and runs just as good as the miller 211 but rated for 1/2"

That's how I felt as well.
I'll have to ask him, thanks.
We have a hobart 140 sitting in our garage right now, and I really like how it welds, but it's not MIG (it's flux core only AFAIK) and I think I'm gonna want 220 capability later on.
Cool, interesting that it's made by miller (from what i've read miller is good, and the other day we borrowed one of their stick welders and it worked great)

    Looks good!

I've been eyeing one of those cut50 machines, but I'm waiting on airgas to get back to me about any floor models they have for cheap. I can borrow one from work but doing it every weekend is getting old:eek:

Reminds me, I need to build a cart also.

Most of the bad reviews I've found are from people who have heard bad things, or bad sellers. there are tons of decent reviews. If I buy name brand I'm either going with Miller 375, which we use at work or hypertherm.

I really like this saw; and thanks for the suggestions on cutting fluid. Going to do some more research on it tomorrow. LWS wanted $175 for 5 gallons of some synthetic stuff. Apparently, you dilute it - and it'd last me years.. Just don't need 5 gallons of it. Going to see if the big plate shop by me will sell me a couple gallons, or just make my own with water soluble oil.

Think I'll rewire the motor for 220V as well. It's a 23 Amp draw @ 110; little bit more than what I want to be running through my outlets. 220V is much more efficient as well.

Soooo much better than an abrasive cut-off.

We use rustlick WS for machining' works decently. On our band saw w use cutting wax cause it doesn't have a coolant system.

There were a few questions last week about using a miter saw to cut metal, I forgot to mention anything about lubricant. Cutting wax is a must.

I'm thinking I'm going to fabricate something to secure my shit a little better when I'm not at home. Friend's truck got broken into last night - HAM radio, GPS and some other miscellaneous things were stolen. He was the only vehicle hit out of 3 houses in his neighborhood.

Stole his garage door opener, too.. Guess that's the latest thing in this area.

This shit makes me pissed. He's an engineer on a ship, and has to go to work in 2 weeks - worrying about his baby daughter and wife at home.

Thieves like that should be strategically eliminated from breeding pools.

Suggestions on securing your junk? PM's work too.
