I know people who use them and like them, just with me that bit of delay fucks with my eyes. I gave mine to a buddy who used it for a few years and liked it. I've been using a free one I got with my welder, I think it's at tweco, they retail for around $70 I think.

Thanks for the recomendations guys. Ive worked with a welder who liked the harbor freight hoods but i i just dont know if i can trust the saftey of my eyes to a harbor freight product because my eyes are already pretty bad. After i posted i alao remembered one of our welders telling me he wouldnt get a hood with less than 4 sensors. So after research the HF and oher options inended going wiht an Antra hood: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AYSWZRY?pc_redir=1400957165&robot_redir=1

That's what I thought too. Then I saw Jody on Welding Tips & Tricks talk about it. He didn't have anything bad to say about it.

Glad you found something that'll work for you!

This is my first pewter counter top I've led from beginning to end, with help form a few guys in the shop. The guy who used to do all the pewter counter tops got let go, I've helped on a couple but haven't been much involved, there's a huge learning curve compared to other metals. It's very soft so in certain aspects it's easy to work with but at the same time causes difficulties. Welding .0625 vertical on a corner with proper penetration to keep from cracking once it's been blended out is not easy, let alone not blowing the entire corner away.

Thanks, it's definitely rewarding after we finish, especially this one since I installed it also, it's nice to see the finished product installed in a finished home, really brings it out. Everything is made in house, including hand hammering all the dimples, luckily I don't do that:D
